Bulls Rally Falls Short
BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo wrestling team rallied all the way back from a 16-0 deficit to tie Northern Illinois, 16-16, with one match remaining, but ultimately lost to the Huskies, 19-16, at Alumni Arena on Sunday afternoon. After spotting the Huskies a 16-0 lead, Joe Ariola started the comeback with an 11-3 major decision over Max Ihry at 197 lbs. Ariola improved to 5-1 in MAC duals on the season.

Central Michigan:
Wrestlers Drop Dual At Kent State
KENT, Ohio – The 16th-ranked Central Michigan wrestling team dropped its final Mid-American Conference dual of the season on Sunday when it fell to Kent State, 21-13, at the Golden Flashes’ M.A.C. Center. The Chippewas won just four matches, and scored bonus points in just one of them in falling to 8-5 and finishing 5-2 in MAC duals. Kent State improved to 12-9, 2-4.

Late Night, Good Night For CMU Wrestlers
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - The Central Michigan wrestling team recorded one pin and one technical fall on Friday in topping Eastern Michigan, 29-7, in a Mid-American Conference dual on the Chippewas' Senior Night at McGuirk Arena. The Chippewas, who have won three consecutive duals and seven of their last eight, improved to 8-4, 5-1 MAC. Eastern Michigan is 7-7, 3-4. Redshirt freshman Matt Stencel capped the evening with a first-period pin in the 285-pound match. His win came over senior Gage Hutchison, who is ranked second in the weight class in the MAC. Stencel is ranked fourth.

Eagles Fall At Central Michigan
MT. PLEASANT, Mich. – The Eastern Michigan University wrestling team wrapped Mid-American Conference dual action with a 29-7 road setback at No. 16 Central Michigan University Friday evening, Feb. 9, at McGuirk Arena. In a match that was delayed two hours due to heavy snow in southeast Michigan, the Eagles (7-7, 3-4 MAC) battled hard against a fierce CMU (8-4, 5-1 MAC) lineup which featured seven nationally ranked wrestlers.

Flashes Upset No. 16 Central Michigan on Senior Day
KENT, Ohio – Kent State made Sunday afternoon a Senior Day to remember with a 21-13 upset over No. 16 Central Michigan. Two overtime victories and a surprising pin at heavyweight were among the Golden Flashes' six hard fought wins at the M.A.C. Center. With his team down 3-0, junior Kyle Conel (197) showed a sign of more things to come with a go-ahead takedown late in third period. In the battle of Top 30 wrestlers, Conel prevailed 6-5 over Jordan Atienza.

Flashes Take Four Matches In Loss To ODU
KENT, Ohio – Kent State ended its night on a high note with back-to-back victories at 197 and heavyweight, but Old Dominion captured six bouts in a 19-14 road win Friday night at the M.A.C. Center. The Monarchs hung for close victories at 149, 157 and 174. Juniors Isaac Bast (165) and Kyle Conel (197) both recorded major decisions, while junior Anthony Tutolo (133) and senior Stephen Suglio (285) provided late heroics in their victories.

Huskies Defeat Buffalo, 19-16
BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Northern Illinois University wrestling team earned its first Mid-American Conference victory of the season, defeating Buffalo, 19-16, at Buffalo, N.Y., Sunday afternoon. Caden McWhirter set the tone in the first match of the day. The Huskie redshirt-sophomore pinned Eric Fasnacht of Buffalo at the 1:38 minute mark of the first period at 157 to give the Huskies an early 6-0 lead.

Huskies Drop Decision At Binghamton
VESTAL, N.Y. – The Northern Illinois University wrestling team fell to the Bearcats of Binghamton, 35-0, in Vestal, N.Y., on Friday night. The match marked the first time NIU has been shut out in a dual since 2014 when Missouri defeated the Huskies, 31-0. The Huskies lost four matches by less than two points.

Bobcats Honor Seniors Before ODU Dual
ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio Wrestling team (4-6, 3-2 MAC) hosted Mid-American Conference rival Old Dominion (8-8, 4-2 MAC) on Sunday (Feb. 11) the dual was canceled after the 165-weight class due to a medical incident. The match will not be made up. The Bobcats started the match celebrating five Ohio seniors. Ohio honored Cullen Cummings, Noah Forrider, Gabe Dzuro, Thomas Williams and Zak Hassan.

Monarchs Top Kent State, 19-14
KENT, Ohio – The Old Dominion (8-8, 4-2 MAC) wrestling team defeated Kent State (11-9, 1-4 MAC) by a score of 19-14 on Friday night in the Memorial Athletic Center. The Monarchs won six out of the ten bouts. Opening up the night with bonus points for the Monarchs, Michael McGee earned a major decision victory over Jake Ferri in the 125-pound bout.
