Women's Tennis Splits Home Matches
AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron women's tennis team split a pair of non-conference home matches on Friday at the LaTuchie Tennis Center. The Zips fell to SEC powerhouse Tennessee (8-0 overall), ranked among th nation's Top 30, in the afternoon. Akron (5-4 oversll) rebounded with a 7-0 shut out of local rival Walsh (2-3 overall) in evening action. The Lady Vols captured the doubles point with wins at the No. 2 and 3 positions. In singles action, Tennessee claimed wins at No. 1, 5, and 6, sealing the win. All play was then halted.

Cardinals Earn 6-1 Win Over Valparaiso
MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State women's tennis team improved to 4-2 on the season with its 6-1 take down over Valparaiso (3-4) Saturday evening in the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center. The Cardinals took all three doubles matches from the Crusaders. First off the court was Julia Sbircea and Isabelle Dohanics after defeating Claire Czerwonka and Jalena Vujanic at the No. 1 spot by a score of 6-2.

Women's Tennis Sweeps Weekend In Indy
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Bowling Green tennis program (5-1) continued its winning ways on Saturday afternoon as it faced non-conference opponent the University of Indianapolis (2-1) on the road. The Falcons picked up a 5-1 victory after earning three doubles wins and a pair of singles victories against the Greyhounds.

Falcons Shutout IUPUI, 7-0
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Bowling Green tennis program (3-1) shutout IUPUI (2-3) on Friday morning when it picked up a 7-0 victory on the road. The Falcons earned a total of six singles and two doubles wins on the day against the Jaguars, to improve to its 4-1 record on the season.

Women's Tennis Rolls Past Hofstra
OCEANSIDE, NY - The University at Buffalo women's tennis team won their first true road contest of the year on Saturday as the Bulls defeated Hofstra, 6-1. For the third straight time this season, UB began the match by taking the doubles point. Buffalo's number one team of Chantal Martinez Blancoand Lolade Ogungbesan won 6-3, while the number two squad of Tanja Stojanovska and Anna Savchenko won 6-1.

Bulls Fall At St. John's
QUEENS, NY - The University at Buffalo women's tennis team dropped their first match of the year on Friday afternoon as the Bulls lost a tough 4-3 decision at Big East foe, St. John's. Buffalo started off strong, taking the doubles point from the Red Storm. Junior Chantal Martinez Blanco and senior Lolade Ogungbesan won at first doubles, 6-3, while Mercedes Losada Rubio and Arianna Paules Aldrey came away with an identical 6-3 win at third doubles. The Bulls led at second doubles, 5-2, when play was stopped.

Eagles Earn 5-2 Over Cleveland State
CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Eastern Michigan University tennis team evened its record on the season thanks to a 5-2 victory over Cleveland State at the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion Sunday, Feb. 11. Eastern (3-3) got on the right track thanks to a win in doubles, as they began with an advantage because of a Vikings' forfeit at No. 3. Needing one match for the victory, Andrea Martinovska and Ani Gogvadze came away with a 6-4 win at No. 2.

Eagles Come Up Short At Pitt
WEXFORD, Pa. – The Eastern Michigan University tennis team took on the University of Pittsburgh for just the second time in program history Saturday, Feb. 10, falling 5-2 in a hard-fought match with the Panthers at the Oxford Athletic Club. The match opened with a tough loss for the Eagles in the doubles point. The No. 1 and 2 duos went down by narrow 6-3 and 6-4 scores, respectively, while No. 3 pair Alejandra Barcelo Almoyna and Natalia Regalado was tied 5-5 against their foes.

RedHawks Fall 4-3 To Eastern Kentucky
RICHMOND, Ky. – The Miami University women’s tennis team dropped their match against Eastern Kentucky Sunday by a score of 4-3. The RedHawks fall to 2-5 on the season, while the Colonels improve their record to 4-2. Unlike Saturday’s match against Memphis, the RedHawks were able to get off to a great start in doubles matches. Nelli Ponomareva and Melati Devi combined to defeat EKU’s number one pairing of Argente/Demecenkova 6-2, and were quickly followed by Milana Lysova and Emily Struble, who won by the same score. Priyana Kalita and Lena Babunski were up 4-3 in their match before that was abandoned after the RedHawks clinched.

Memphis Overpowers Miami
HAMILTON, Ohio – The Miami University women’s tennis team dropped their third match in a row Saturday, as the visiting Memphis Tigers controlled the RedHawks early and claimed a 5-0 victory. Miami falls to 2-4 on the season after today’s match, while Memphis improves to 4-3. The doubles session featured three matches that followed a very similar pattern. With each match finishing nearly simultaneously, the RedHawks were unable to hold on as the Tigers claimed courts one and three by scores of 6-3 and won 6-2 on the second court.

Huskies Fall To Illinois State
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Northern Illinois University Women's Tennis team suffered a 5-2 loss to Illinois State at the Bloomington Tennis Center Saturday afternoon. The Huskies (2-4) picked up victories at No. 4 and 6 singles. Evelyn Youel earned her victory at No. 4 singles, defeating Illinois State's Ivon Mihaleva, 6-4, 4-6, 13-11.

Rockets Bear Down On Grizzlies, 6-1
Toledo, Ohio - The University of Toledo women's tennis team swept the doubles matches and took five of six singles' battles in a 6-1 victory over Oakland at Shadow Valley Tennis Club in Maumee on Saturday. It was the third consecutive dual-match victory for the Rockets, who are now 4-2 on the season.

Women's Tennis Matches Postponed For the Weekend
KALAMAZOO, Mich. – This weekend's Western Michigan women's tennis matches have been postponed due to weather and travel conditions in the Midwest. The Broncos were scheduled to play at DePaul tonight at 6 p.m. followed by Green Bay on Saturday in Marquette. The teams are now working on rescheduling the matches for another date. Western Michigan returns home on Sunday, Feb. 18, welcoming Big East opponent in Marquette at 11 a.m. inside West Hills.
