Akron:
Zips Earn 5-2 Win Sunday


AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron women's tennis team claimed a 5-2 win over East Tennessee State on Sunday morning at the LaTuchie Tennis Center. With a new doubles line-up, the Zips (6-5 overall) claimed the doubles point over the Bucs (3-4 overall). At No. 2 doubles, junior Luisa Echeverry and freshman Miruna Vasilescu  defeated Melissa Esguerra and Yi Chi Ma, 6-3.  Full Story...

Women's Tennis Falls To West Virginia

AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to West Virginia on Friday afternoon at the LaTuchie Tennis Center. West Virginia (2-2 overall) claimed the doubles point with hard-fought contests against the Zips (5-5 overall) that could have gone either way.  At No. 2 doubles, Lyn Yuen Choo and Paula Goetz battled sophomore Rita Pedroso (Porto, Portugal) and freshman Anna Uljanov (Schweinfurt, Germany) to a 7-6 (6) finish. Full Story...

Ball State:
Women's Tennis Suffers 4-3 Loss To Western Kentucky

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State women's tennis team (5-3) suffered a 4-3 loss to Western Kentucky (3-2) Sunday afternoon at the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center. The Cardinals started the match off strong after taking the doubles point from the Hilltoppers.  WKU took the win on the top court from Ball State but the Cardinals managed to even the score after Audrey Berger and Rebecca Herrington registered a 6-2 defeat against Natalie De Ugarte and Elpida Malamou at the No. 2 spot.  The No. 3 twosome of Lilya Hadab and Peyton Gollhofer then clinched the point with the duo's win over Violetta Shatalova and Cindy Oest. Full Story...

Cardinals Dominate Illinois-Chicago

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State women's tennis team dominated Illinois-Chicago after posting a 7-0 win Friday night at the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center.  With the win, the Cardinals improved to 5-2 overall while the Flames fell to 1-4 on the season. In doubles action, the duo of Lilya Hadab and Peyton Gollhofer were the first off the court for Ball State after defeating UIC's Viktoria Seifert and Stefana Vasic by a score of 6-3 at the No. 3 position.  Shortly after, the Cardinals No. 2 twosome of Audrey Berger and Rebecca Herringtonthen clinched the doubles point with their 6-4 victory versus Rachel Le Comber and Melika Leblanc.  Full Story...

Falcons Fall At Cleveland State, 4-3

Buffalo:
Women's Tennis Tops Duquesne, 5-2

WILLIAMSVILLE, NY – The University at Buffalo women's tennis team improved to 3-1 on the season with a 5-2 win over Duquesne on Friday afternoon at the Miller Tennis Center.  The victory was UB's second straight win. For the first time this season, UB dropped the doubles point as Duquesne came away with wins at one and three.  Buffalo picked up a win at second doubles as the reigning MAC Doubles Team of the Week of Tanja Stojanovska and Anna Savchenko won 6-3. Full Story...

Eastern Michigan:
Eagles Upend Central Oklahoma

EDMOND, Okla. -- The Eastern Michigan University tennis team kicked off its southwest road trip by taking down the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) No. 13 ranked team in NCAA Division II, the University of Central Oklahoma, 4-3 at Broncho Courts. Central Oklahoma got the match going with a win in the doubles point, earning victories at No. 3 and No. 1. Eastern's lone victory came from the senior duo of Ani Gogvadze and Andrea Martinovska at No. 2, who won by a 7-6 final. Full Story...

Miami:
Women's Tennis Tops Murray State

HAMILTON, Ohio – The Miami University women’s tennis team turned in what may have been their strongest performance of the season when they defeated the visiting Racers of Murray State by a score of 6-1 at Riverside Athletic Club Sunday. With the victory, the RedHawks improve their record to 4-5, and Murray State falls to 1-3. For the third match in a row, Miami found success in the doubles section of the match. The duo of Nelli Ponomareva and Melati Devi, playing in just their fifth match together, appears to have been a success as they set the tone with a quick 6-2 victory. Despite a Racer win on the second court, the ‘Hawks we’re still able to take the doubles point when Emily Strubleand Milana Lysova combined for a 6-2 win of their own.  Full Story...

RedHawks Get Back To Winning Ways

HAMILTON, Ohio - Aided by a few lineup troubles for the Thundering Herd, the Miami University women's tennis team got back into the win column with a convincing 5-2 win over visiting Marshall. The RedHawks improve to 3-5, while the Herd are left searching for their first dual match victory at 0-7. Due to an injury, Marshall was unable to field a complete team, giving Miami walkover wins at third doubles and sixth singles. The `Hawks took advantage of this in doubles, splitting the other two matches to earn the point. Huskies Sweep Saturday Home Doubleheader 

ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Northern Illinois University Women's tennis team posted a pair of home victories defeating Eastern Illinois and Valparaiso at the Boylan Tennis Center Saturday afternoon. The Huskies (4-4) posted a 4-3 victory over the Panthers in the first match of the day before beating Valparaiso, 5-2. With Saturday's wins, NIU improved to 4-0 at home. The Huskies won both doubles points, sweeping the three matches versus EIU and taking two of three matches versus Valparaiso. Full Story...

Toledo:
Women's Tennis Pushes Win Streak To Five With Road Win

Dayton, Ohio - The University of Toledo's women's tennis team defeated Wright State 4-3 today to extend its winning streak to five matches. With the victory, the Rockets move to 6-2 in dual matches. The match was tied at 3-3 after five singles matches and came down to the No. 2 spot between UT's Mimi Kendall-Woseley and WSU's Haily Morgan. Kendall-Woseley swept Morgan, 6-3, 7-5, clinching the victory.  Full Story...

Rockets Extend Win Streak To Four With Win At Cincinnati

Toledo, Ohio - Toledo's women's tennis team came out on top over Cincinnati today, defeating the Bearcats 4-3 at the Western Tennis & Fitness Club in Cincinnati on Friday. The victory marks the second consecutive year that the Rockets were able to establish a four-match win streak during the season. The pairings of Mimi Kendall-Woseley/Thalita Rodrigues and Colleen O'Brien/Dee Dee Leenabanchong won the doubles point for Toledo. Leenabanchong was the lone Rocket to sweep her singles match in a straight set, but as head coach Tracy Mauntler explained, the standout player from the night was Kendall-Woseley. Full Story...

Western Michigan:
Broncos Remain Undefeated At Home

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan women's tennis team remained unbeaten at home this season, defeating the Marquette Golden Eagles (5-2) on Sunday afternoon. The Broncos are winners of three straight, improving to 5-4 overall and 4-0 inside the West Hills Athletic Club. After falling 4-3 in Marquette last season, WMU had its revenge today and are now 2-1 against the Golden Eagles under head coach Ryan Tomlinson. Full Story...
