Buffalo:
Bulls Drop Road Dual at Eastern Michigan

YPSILANTI, MI – The University at Buffalo wrestling team dropped a Mid-American Conference dual at Eastern Michigan, 26-10, on Friday night. It was the Bulls' fourth straight dual loss. Kyle Akins led things off with an 8-2 decision over Tomas Gutierrez. The Bulls' redshirt-junior improved to 9-3 in duals on the season with the win. However, the Eagles won the next seven duals to take a commanding lead in the dual. Joe Ariola got the Bulls back on track with a 19-6 major decision over Jared Langley at 197 lbs. Full Story...

Central Michigan:
Chippewas Win Going Away At Old Dominion

NORFOLK, Va. – Central Michigan won the final five matches, two of them by major decision, in downing Old Dominion, 23-13, in a Mid-American Conference dual on Sunday at the Monarchs’ Ted Constant Center. The win lifted 16th-ranked CMU to 7-4, 4-1 MAC. It was the Chippewas’ seventh win in their last eight duals. Old Dominion is 7-8, 3-2. CMU entertains Eastern Michigan in a MAC dual on Friday, Feb. 9 (7 p.m.).  Full Story...

Eagles Handle Kent State on Senior Day

YPSILANTI, Mich. – Eastern Michigan extended its dual winning streak to three with a dominating, 32-9, victory over MAC foe Kent State University on Senior Day Sunday afternoon, Feb. 4, inside the Convocation Center. The Eagles (7-6, 3-3 MAC) won seven of the ten bouts, including four via bonus points, while the Golden Flashes (11-8, 1-3 MAC) points came via three tight decisions. Redshirt senior Kyle Springer notched a technical fall in his final home match, while redshirt sophomore Sa'Derian Perry redshirt freshman Andrew McNally and redshirt senior Gage Hutchison all tallied pins. Full Story...

Tanner Smith Wins Fifth Tournament Title at Edinboro Open

EDINBORO, Pa. — Eastern Michigan University freshman wrestler Tanner Smith won his fifth open tournament title of the season, as he took the 149 lbs. crown wrestling unattached at the Edinboro Open Saturday, Feb. 3. The 'true' freshman is now a sterling 22-0 in his redshirt season. Smith rolled through competition, winning all five of his bouts, including two by major decision and two by technical fall. In the finals, Smith trailed 4-1 in the match against two-time NCAA qualifier Jamal Morris of NC State, but came back to win by a tight 7-6 decision. Full Story...

Eagles Control Bulls, 26-10

YPSILANTI, Mich. – The Eastern Michigan University wrestling team got another commanding Mid-American Conference dual win with a 26-10 victory over the University at Buffalo Friday evening, Feb. 2, inside the Convocation Center. The dual was the annual Beauty and the Best meet, which coincided with the EMU gymnastics team's, 194.900-194.250, win over the University of Illinois-Chicago. The Eagles (6-6, 2-3 MAC) won seven of the ten matches to run away with the win, winning all seven from 133 to 184 lbs. Two EMU grapplers won via bonus points, with major decisions from redshirt sophomores Noah Gonser and Zac Carson. Full Story...

Kent State:
Eagles Stifle Flashes

YPSILANTI, Mich. – Kent State juniors Anthony Tutolo, Casey Sparkman and Kyle Conel all earned victories Sunday at Eastern Michigan's Convocation Center, but the Eagles (7-6, 3-3) celebrated their senior day with a 32-9 win.  The Golden Flashes (11-8, 1-3) endured close losses at 125, 165 and 174 along with a tide-turning move that quickly decided the fate of the heavyweight bout. The opening 125-pound match proved to be indicative of how the rest of the dual played out.  Freshman Jake Ferri held a one-point lead with a minute left in the third period, but was taken down in a 9-8 setback. Full Story...

Missouri:
Tigers Top Huskies, 24-12

DEKALB, Ill. – Redshirt sophomore 141-pounder Jaydin Eierman (Columbia, Mo.), redshirt junior 149-pounder Grant Leeth and redshirt senior 197-pounder Willie Miklus each scored bonus points to lead No. 3 Mizzou Wrestling (17-0, 7-0 MAC) to a 24-12 win over Northern Illinois (2-8, 0-5 MAC) Friday night at Victor E. Court. With the win, Mizzou concludes Mid-American Conference dual competition with a perfect 7-0 record, the third time in the last four seasons Mizzou has ended the season with a perfect mark in conference competition. In seven MAC duals this season, Mizzou has outscored its opponents, 241-43. Dating back to Jan. 25, 2014, Mizzou has won 35 of its last 36 duals by a combined score of 1,063-316. Full Story...

Northern Illinois:
Huskies Suffer Setback To No. 3 Missouri

DEKALB, Ill.– The Northern Illinois University wrestling team concluded its two-dual home stand with a, 24-12, setback against No. 3 Missouri in Victor E. Court Friday night. The Huskies scored 12 points, the most given up by Missouri in the Mid-American Conference this year. The Huskies were led by Kirk Johansen at 125.  The Huskie redshirt-sophomore started of the dual defeating Aaron Assad, 7-2.  Johansen is 4-4 and is 2-0 in the MAC.  Full Story...

Bobcats Pick Up 28-10 Win Over Gardner-Webb

ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio wrestling team (4-6) earned a 28-10 victory over Gardner-Webb (1-9) at the Convocation Center on Sunday, Feb. 4. Ohio junior Cameron Kelly picked up a 16-1 technical fall over Gardner-Webb's Phillip Anderson at 133-pounds to finish off the dual. Full Story...

Old Dominion:
Wrestling Drops 23-23 Dual To No. 16 Central Michigan

NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion (7-8, 3-2 MAC) wrestling team fell to No. 16 Central Michigan (7-4, 4-1 MAC), 23-13 on Sunday afternoon in their final home dual. The Monarchs won four matches but dropped the last five en route to their second MAC loss. Starting at 125 pounds, Michael McGee earned his second straight win with a 3-2 decision over Drew Hildebrandt.

Monarchs Fall To Navy

NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion (7-7, 3-1 MAC) wrestling team dropped a non-conference dual by a score of 26-8 on Friday night against Navy (7-2, 3-1 EIWA) in the Ted Constant Center. Michael McGeeand Ali Wahab both earned victories for the Monarchs. Starting the dual at 125, Michael McGee earned a technical fall over Aslan Kilic to give the Monarchs five points on the board.  Full Story...
