Perkins and Flowers Garner MAC Player of the Week Honors

Nick Perkins, Buffalo
Forward, Senior, Ypsilanti, MI (Milan)
Senior Nick Perkins led the Bulls with his second double-double of the season as Buffalo defeated Southern Illinois 73-65 on Saturday afternoon. Perkins had 11 of those 20 points during a 17-0 run in the first half, helping the Bulls get out to a big lead. He went 3-of-5 from behind the arc, finishing as the team's leading three-point shooter for the game. He also added 11 rebounds, including four on the offensive end.
MAC West Division Player of the Week
Michael Flowers, Western Michigan
Guard, Sophomore, Southfield, Mich. (Southfield A&T)
Michael Flowers had yet another career day, this time against the fifth-ranked team in country as Flowers poured in 31 points on 9-of-16 shooting at No.5 Michigan on Saturday afternoon. Flowers also corralled in seven rebounds and was a staggering 10-of-11 from the free-throw line. It was the fourth straight game in which Flowers has scored in double figures and now ranks second on WMU with 15.7 points per game. Flowers 31 points was the most points Michigan has given up by a player this season. The 31 points by Flowers was the most by a Bronco against a Big Ten team since Bronco legend and current Michigan assistant coach Saddi Washington dropped 33 vs. Michigan back in 1997.

Justin Turner, Bowling Green
Guard, Redshirt-Sophomore, Detroit, Michigan (Renaissance)
Justin Turner, a redshirt-sophomore guard from Detroit, led Bowling Green to 1-0 week. In the Orange and Brown's victory over Findlay on Dec. 16, Turner registered 22 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals. Turner went 8-for-13 from the floor and 5-for-5 from the free throw line. The 22 points marks the sixth 20-point game of the season for Turner. The guard ranks fourth in the MAC with a 19.2 scoring average.
Jaylin Walker, Kent State
Guard, Senior, Inkster, Mich.
Against Louisville, Walker led the Flashes’ scoring efforts with a game-high 28 points on 9-of-7 from the field which included a 7-of-10 performance from deep. In the second half, the senior guard put up 22 points to keep the Flashes in the game. Walker also brought down a team-high six rebounds and had two steals. With the 28 points against Louisville, Walker now has scored 20 or more points in four of his five games.
Jason Carter, Ohio
Forward, R-Senior, Johnstown, Ohio/ Jonstown-Monroe
Redshirt sophomore forward Jason Carter (Johnstown Ohio,) led the Ohio men’s basketball team (7-3) to a 63-61 victory at Detroit Mercy on Saturday (Dec. 15). Carter shot 6-of-14 from the field and 8-of-9 from the free throw line to finish with a game-high 20 points. He finished with at least 20 points for the fifth time this season. Carter also tallied two rebounds and two blocks.
Marreon Jackson, Toledo
Guard, Sophomore, Cleveland, Ohio (Garfield Heights)
Sophomore guard Marreon Jackson scored a season-high 17 points to lead a balanced Rocket attack in Toledo’s dominating 84-62 victory over Middle Tennessee. The victory extended UT’s winning streak to eight games, the program’s longest since winning 12 in a row to open the 2013-14 campaign. In addition to leading the team in scoring, Jackson dished out a team-high six assists with just one turnover and grabbed three rebounds. Jackson, who knocked down 7-of-10 shots from the field and 3-of-5 attempts from three-point range, scored 10 of his points in the first half and hit a three midway through the opening stanza to provide UT with its first double-digit lead.
