MAC Wrestler of the Week
Dylan Wisman, Missouri—Junior, Winchester, Va. (Millbrook High School)
Missouri junior Dylan Wisman at 184 lbs. put together a 6-0 weekend, winning five of his six bouts with bonus point decisions, including two pins – the latter of which came in a MAC dual Sunday vs. SIU-Edwardsville. Wisman went 5-0 at the Northern Iowa Invitational on Saturday, beating Iowa State’s Tyler Buesgens in a major decision, 13-1, pinning North Dakota State’s Noah Cressell (3:13), earning a major decision over Minnesota’s Caden Steffen (14-2), adding another major vs. Iowa State’s Daniel Bush (12-0) and then defeated teammate Canten Marriot, 5-3, in the final. He outscored his opponents 44-6 with a pin in the tournament. After wrestling five bouts Saturday, he returned to the mat Sunday to wrestle in Mizzou’s MAC Dual vs. SIU-Edwardsville. He pinned Sergio Villalobos in 4:23 to earn the win and his second pin of the weekend.

Jake Gunning, Buffalo—Senior, Bethlehem, Pa. (Bethlehem Liberty High School)
Buffalo senior Jake Gunning went 2-0 at 285 lbs. on the week with dual wins at Binghamton and George Mason. The senior heavyweight first earned a 7-4 decision over Binghamton’s Joe Doyle on Thursday night. He followed that up with an upset win at George Mason, defeating 8th-ranked Matthew Voss on Saturday. Gunning recorded a takedown in the first overtime to come away with the 3-1 sudden victory.
Matt Stencel, Central Michigan—Sophomore, Oregon, Ohio (Clay High School)
Central Michigan sophomore Matt Stencel at 285 lbs. went 2-0 with both victories coming on first-period pins last week in dual meets at Virginia and at Maryland. Stencel pinned Quinn Miller of Virginia in 2 minutes, 56 seconds on Friday night and then closed the weekend on Sunday with a pin in 59 seconds of Mansur Abdul-Malik to put the exclamation point in the Chippewas’ 26-9 victory. With the two wins, Stencel improved to 8-3 on the season. Seven of his wins have come on pins, with six of those pins coming in the first period.
Caleb Gossett, Northern Illinois—Senior, St. Charles, Mo. (Francis Howell Central High School)
Northern Illinois senior Caleb Gossett at 285 lbs. recorded an impressive 2-0 victory over Illinois' Duece Rachal in NIU's 24-9 setback to the Illini. The Huskie senior was in command of the match from the end of the first period. He controlled Rachal the entire second period to secure the riding time point, then picked up an escape in the third.
Shane Jones, Old Dominion—Junior, Stroudsburg, Pa. (Stroudsburg High School)
Old Dominion junior Shane Jones at 165 lbs. collected bonus points with a 20-4 technical fall en route to the Monarchs 30-10 win over nationally ranked Northwestern on Dec. 7. The redshirt junior topped his opponent by 16 points, which would be the most points against Northwestern along with teammate Michael McGee.
