Buffalo:
Bulls Post 3-0 Mark at Bucknell Duals
LEWISBURG, PA – It was a very successful day for the University at Buffalo wrestling team as the Bulls won all three of their duals at the Bucknell Duals on Sunday afternoon. The Bulls defeated Cleveland State, 34-6, VMI, 35-4, and host Bucknell, 25-12, to improve to 3-1 on the season. Derek Spann continued his domination at 133 lbs. and will likely make his way into the national rankings next week. The redshirt-sophomore won all three of his matches with a pin and two major decisions. Spann won by fall over Cleveland State's Armando Torres in the third period. He followed with a 16-7 major decision over VMI's Hunter Starner and an 11-0 major decision over Bucknell's Brett Rezendes.

Central Michigan:
Chippewas Fall To No. 5 Michigan
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – On the surface, it was a loss to the fifth-ranked team in the country. Looking deeper, there were plenty of encouraging signs for the Central Michigan wrestling team on Sunday as it dropped its opening dual of the season to Michigan, 32-12, at McGuirk Arena. The Chippewas, with just two upperclassmen in the lineup, got victories from Drew Hildebrandt (125 pounds), Logan Parks (157) and Matt Stencel (285). Michigan, which featured a lineup loaded with returning NCAA Championships qualifiers and All-Americans, won seven matches, three of them by pin and two by major decision.

Kent State:
Flashes Fall To No. 1 Penn State
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Kent State sophomore Jake Ferri earned a victory he won't soon forget Sunday afternoon at Penn State's Rec Hall. In front of a sellout crowd of 6,496 fans, Ferri defeated Devin Schnupp 12-8, before the No. 1 Nittany Lions went on to win the next nine matches in a 52-3 victory. Ferri trailed 4-2 after the opening period, but scored a pair of takedowns in the second period. After a Schnupp stayed within striking distance with a pair of escapes in the third, Ferri converted a low double leg takedown and secured riding time.

Flashes Drop Three At Frenzy
KENT, Ohio -- A pair of Top 20 opponents and an extra bonus point made for a tough Friday for Kent State in losses to Iowa, Wisconsin and Cal Bakersfield during the Frenzy at the Field House. Two CSU Bakersfield major decisions to Kent State's one made the difference in a 17-16 opening dual, while the No. 18 Badgers and No. 3 Hawkeyes came away with road victories of 37-13 and 45-0 respectively.
Sophomore and reigning Mid-American Conference Wrestler of the Week Andrew McNally (184) earned two more victories. McNally cradled up CSUB's Dom Ducharme twice in a 16-3 major decision. He found himself in a much closer match against Wisconsin's Mason Rinehart, up 8-7 with 30 seconds remaining. As Reinhart leaned forward, McNally slipped in an underhook and tossed Rinehart directly to his back, recording a pin with 22 seconds remaining.

Missouri:
Mizzou Wrestling Wins 21st Straight Dual
NORFOLK, Va. – No. 7 Missouri Wrestling (2-0,1-0) cruised past their first MAC opponent Old Dominion on Sunday, with a final score of 40-3. This victory extended a 21-match regular season win streak that dates all the way back to February of 2017. The Tigers remain perfect against the Old Dominion Monarchs, moving to 7-0 in the all-time series. The Tigers put on a near-perfect performance, holding the Monarchs to just three team points. Six Mizzou wrestlers recorded bonus points for the Tigers, including three pins. The team tallied a total of 40 points – the Tigers did that only once against a conference opponent last season.

Northern Illinois:
Huskies Battle But Fall at North Dakota State
FARGO, N.D. – Northern Illinois suffered a 35-4 setback to No. 22 North Dakota State at the Scheels Center Thursday night. The Huskies (0-1) got off to a rough start, facing a pair of ranked wrestlers in the first two matches of the night and four overall. North Dakota State (2-0) raced out to a 20-0 lead after winning the first six matches. Brit Wilson stemmed the tide by posting NIU's lone win on the night. The redshirt freshman scored an impressive, 15-4 maj. dec. over No. 24 Lorenzo De La Riva, at 174. Unfortunately for NIU, those would be the only points the Huskies would score. While they were losses, Mason Kauffman, Kenny Moore and Caden McWhirter battled in their respective weight classes. Kauffman and McWhirter lost their bouts at 157 and 184, respectively, by a score of 4-3. Moore was edged out, 3-2, at 165.

Bobcats Fall At Campbell
BUIES CREEK, N.C. -- Ohio (0-1) jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead but ultimately fell to host Campbell (1-0), 19-13, today at Carter Gym in the first dual meet of the 2018-19 season for the Bobcats. The match began at the 157-pound weight class, with redshirt sophomore Nick Vestal knocking off Campbell freshman Matthew Dallara in a 6-3 decision. Ohio's lead grew to 7-0 when freshman Colt Yinger recorded a 16-6 major decision win over freshman Cameron Pine at 165.

Old Dominion:
Monarchs Drop Dual To Missouri
NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion (0-1, 0-1 MAC) wrestling team fell to No. 7 Missouri (2-0, 1-0 MAC) on Sunday afternoon, 40-3. Starting the day at 125 pounds, Killian Cardinale dropped his match to Cameron Valdiviez by fall. In the 133-pound bout, Steven Simpson was teched by Missouri’s Allan Hart. Highlighting the day was the 141-pound match that featured two All-Americans in Sa’Derian Perry and Jaydin Eierman. The match was scoreless through one period. After two periods, Eierman earned two takedowns and Perry was down 4-1. In the third period, Eierman stuck Perry on his back for a pin.

Iowa State Upends Cougars
AMES, Iowa – Iowa State took advantage of 1,445 fans at Stephens Auditorium Sunday and defeated SIUE wrestling 37-3. Freshman Justin Ruffin picked up his second win of the season and SIUE's lone victory Sunday. He defeated Iowa State's Chase Straw 9-4 in overtime. Spates said the atmosphere was great for both teams.

Indiana Tops SIUE In Opener
EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- SIUE wrestling won half of the matches at Friday's opener but fell to bonus points, giving Indiana a 21-15 victory at the Jon Davis Center. Tyshawn Williams picked up SIUE's first win of the night at 149 pounds after the Cougars fell behind 15-0. Williams earned a takedown in the final period for a 5-3 victory over Indiana's Tristan Sellmer. SIUE's Justin Ruffin and Sergio Villalobos enjoyed successful collegiate debuts with wins at 157 pounds and 184 pounds, respectively. Ruffin downed Jake Danishek 4-1. Villalobos edged Jakob Hinz 6-2.
