Buffalo:
Bulls Fall at Michigan State
EAST LANSING, Mich. – Buffalo dropped a hard-fought dual at Michigan State, 28-12, on Wednesday night. The loss snapped the Bulls' three game winning streak. Derek Spann earned the first points for the Bulls with an 11-5 decision over Anthony Tutolo at 133 lbs. A late four-point near fall by Spann was the difference in the match. Spann stayed perfect on the season in duals, improving to 5-0. At 149, Jason Estevez suffered a two-point takedown with just 20 seconds left to turn a 6-5 victory into a 7-6 defeat and gave the Spartans a 10-3.

Central Michigan:
Stencel, Atienza Bow At Las Vegas Invitational
LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- Two Central Michigan wrestlers, Jordan Atienza and Matt Stencel, lost in their respective Saturday-morning consolation bouts and as a result were eliminated from the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational. Atienza, a senior wrestling at 184 pounds, dropped a 13-3 major decision to seventh-seeded Nino Bonaccorsi of Pittsburgh to finish the tournament 4-2.
Stencel, who was seeded seventh at 285, was pinned by Demetrius Thomas of Pittsburgh in 2:04 to finish his tournament 3-2. Stencel and Atienza were the lone two Chippewas to advance to the second day of the tournament, which featured 10 teams ranked in the top 25 nationally. The Chippewas were 26th in the 43-team field as of Saturday morning.

Two Chippewas In The Hunt In Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- Two Central Michigan wrestlers are still standing after the opening day of the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Central Michigan 285-pounder Matt Stencel and Jordan Atienza (184) are scheduled to wrestle in consolation-bracket matches in their respective weight classes on Saturday. Stencel, a redshirt sophomore who was seeded seventh, fell on a pin in 4:33 to Ohio State's Chase Singletary in a championship-bracket quarterfinal match on Friday night. Stencel opened the tournament with a pin in 1:37 of Northern Iowa's Carter Isley. He then posted an 11-3 major-decision victory over Haydn Maley of Stanford.

Kent State:
Rooney Wins 133-Pound Crown at Cougar Clash
EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – Junior Tim Rooney's 133-pound title led a group of five Kent State wrestlers with top six finishes Sunday at the Cougar Clash inside Southern Illinois Edwardsville's Vadalabene Center. Rooney went 3-0 as the Golden Flashes finished sixth in the team standings. Rooney has placed in the top three of all three tournaments he's competed in this season, but Sunday was his first career tournament championship. In his final bout, he topped Chattanooga's Jake Huffine 5-2. Rooney's closest bout came in the semifinals, a 7-6 decision over Arizona State's Josh Kramer. He improved to 2-0 on the day against the Sun Devils, defeating Josiah Kline 4-2 in his first match. Sophomore 174-pounder Dylan Barreiro also reached the semifinals and settled for a fourth place. Barreiro topped Chattanooga's Hunter Fortner 8-2 to reach the semis. His 7-3 decision over SIUE's Kevin Gschwendtner, earned Barreiro a spot in the consolation finals.

Tigers Finish Second at Loaded Cliff Keen Invitational
LAS VEGAS, Nev. – No. 6 Mizzou Wrestling had another strong performance at one of college wrestling's premier tournaments, taking home second place at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational Saturday. Mizzou had five of its 10 wrestlers earn podium finishes, highlighted by a pair of runner-up nods, while finishing with a team total 115.5 points. Only second-ranked Ohio State finished with more points. Mizzou edged nationally-ranked Nebraska, Northern Iowa, Michigan and Minnesota, among others, on the weekend as it continues to establish itself as one of the nation's top programs. Earning second-place finishes were Jaydin Eierman at 141 pounds and Daniel Lewis at 174 pounds. Both advanced to the finals at their respective weight classes in dominant fashion before each fell to the top-seeded wrestler in their respective weight classes. Both Eierman and Lewis wrestled to seed as they came in at No. 2 in their brackets. Both finished with 4-1 records on the weekend.

Mizzou Wrestling in Second Place at Cliff Keen Invitational After Strong Day One
LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- Mizzou Wrestling wrapped up a strong performance at day one of the Cliff Keen Invitational Friday by putting three wrestlers into the semifinals while finishing in second place in the team standings as the championship brackets move into the semis. Mizzou has 77.5 total points, trailing first-place Ohio State by 1.5. The Tigers have eight grapplers still alive in their respective weight classes, including three in the championship bracket. Advancing to the semifinals were John Erneste (133), Jaydin Eierman (141) and Daniel Lewis (174). Erneste picked up three pins on his way to the semifinals to highlight a dominant day for him. He will meet top-ranked Nick Suriano of Rutgers tomorrow in the semis. Eierman had two pins and used a 3-2 decision in the quarters to move to the semis. Lewis had two falls and a major on his way to the finals.

Huskies Fall To Indiana, 20-14
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Northern Illinois won four matches Friday night, but two bonus-point victories late in the dual for the Indiana Hoosiers gave the hosts a 20-14 at University Gymnasium. The Huskies won the opening match of the evening at 125 pounds, as Bryce West defeated Elijah Oliver 11-7 to give NIU a 3-0 lead. Indiana won the next two matches at 133 and 145 pounds by decision to take a 6-3 advantage. McCoy Kent tied the match 6-6 for NIU, winning at 149 pounds over Breydon Bailey 11-4.

Ohio Wrestling Tops Appalachian State For First Dual Win Of 2018-19
BOONE, N.C. -- The Ohio wrestling team (1-1) earned its first dual win of the 2018-19 season, defeating host Appalachian State (2-3), 25-16, tonight at Varsity Gymnasium. The Mountaineers began the match by taking a 6-0 lead courtesy of a pin by junior Cary Miller at the 285-pound weight class. The Bobcats retaliated with victories in the next three weight classes to take a 16-6 advantage. Redshirt junior Shakur Laney earned a 19-5 major decision win over redshirt freshman Andy Richard at 125, cutting Appalachian State's lead to two.

No. 9 Early Knocks Off No. 2 Hidlay; Monarchs Edged by No. 5 NC State, 16-15
NORFOLK, Va. -- Old Dominion (0-2) wrestling’s No. 9 Larry Early defeated No. 2 Hayden Hidlay on Friday night by a 4-2 decision. Despite winning five matches, ODU fell to No. 5 NC State (4-0) by a 16-15 final score. In his first dual back, nationally ranked Michael McGee topped previously undefeated Zurich Storm by a 9-4 decision to put ODU on the board first. At 133, Killian Cardinale fell to returning All-American No. 4 Tariq Wilson, 12-4. In the 141-pound match, No. 9 Sa’Derian Perry fell to Jamal Morris by a 7-2 final score.

Williams, Dulaney Take Third at Cougar Clash
EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – Tyshawn Williams and Christian Dulaney each placed third Sunday at the first Cougar Clash at the Vadalebene Center. Williams avenged his only loss of the tournament with a 15-11 win in the 149-pound third-place match at 149 pounds against Wisconsin's Garrett Model. Dulaney stepped up his offense in the 197-pound third-place match with a 15-8 decision over Arizona State's Austyn Harris. SIUE finished fifth as a team in the seven-team tournament. Arizona State won the team title with Army and Wisconsin tying for second place. The Cougars also had top six finishes from Nate Higgins (165, 5th), Kevin Gschwendtner (174, 6th), and Sergio Villalobos (184, 5th).
