Buffalo:
Estevez Wins 149 lb. Title at Black Knight Invite

WEST POINT, NY – The University at Buffalo wrestling team competed at the Black Knight Invite on Sunday and the day was highlighted by Jason Estevez winning the 149 lb. title. As a team, the Bulls finished fifth with 54 points at the event hosted by Army West Point. Estevez had an impressive route to the title, beating two top seeds along the way. He opened with a 2-1 decision over third-seed Brock Port of Lock Haven, followed by a 12-8 decision over second-seed Jon Ross also of Lock Haven. In the title match, Estevez earned a 5-3 decision over Columbia's Riley Jacops. Heavyweight Jake Gunning also worked his way into the finals before forfeiting the first-place match for precautionary reasons. Gunning, the second seed, opened with a second-period pin over Cal Poly's Sam Aguilar. He followed with a 4-2 sudden victory over third-seed Ben Sullivan of Army in the semifinals.  Full Story...

Kent State:
Rooney Leads Flashes at Navy Classic


ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Four Kent State wrestlers earned top four finishes Saturday at the 41st annual Navy Classic inside Wesley Brown Field House.  The Golden Flashes placed eighth of 16 teams with 62.5 points as Michigan State won the team title. For the second time in as many tournaments, junior Tim Rooney placed third at 133.  Rooney went 5-1 on the day, never allowing more than four points in any of his six matches.  In his consolation semifinal bout, he scored a takedown in sudden victory for a 3-1 win over Indiana’s Garrett People.  Full Story...

Missouri:
Tigers Down No. 10 Virginia Tech

COLUMBIA, Mo. – No. 7 Mizzou Wrestling (3-0, 1-0) earn an impressive victory over No. 10 Virginia Tech Friday night for their first match at the Hearnes Center this season with a final score of 21-8. This victory marked the Tigers' second victory over a top-20 team this season, and extends their regular season win streak to 23 matches. The Tigers move to 3-0 against the Hokies in the teams' last three meetings.

The Tigers got off to a strong start, capturing the first four matches of the day to take a 12-0 lead over the Hokies. Redshirt freshman Colby Smithearned his second victory of the season with a dominant 11-4 performance over his opponent. Northern Illinois:
NIU Wrestling Strong At Huskie Duals


DEKALB, Ill. – The Northern Illinois University wrestling team won two of their three matches in the Huskies Duals at Victor E. Court Saturday. The Huskies (2-2) scored 44-3 victory over Harper College and a 27-18 win over Clarion in their first two matches of the day before falling to No. 21 Utah Valley, 21-14. Brit Wilson continues to impress at 174. The redshirt-freshman went 3-0 on the afternoon, including a come-from-behind 8-6 win over No. 14 Kimball Bastian of Utah Valley. Wilson began his day with a dominating 21-7 maj. dec. win over Juan Guiroz of Harper College. He then scored a pin fall win of Clarion's Taylor Cahill.  Full Story...

Ohio:
Parker Claims Title At 285 As Ohio Wrestling Places Sixth At 41st Annual Navy Classic


ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Ohio redshirt senior Zack Parker earned a first-place finish in the 285-pound weight class, and the Ohio wrestling team earned a sixth-place finish out of 16 teams at the 41st Annual Navy Classic, which was held today at Wesley Brown Field House. Three other Bobcats claimed top-six finishes at the Navy Classic to help Ohio earn 67.5 team points. In addition to Parker, redshirt junior Shakur Laney finished second at 125, redshirt freshman Alec Hagan took third at 149 and junior Hunter Yeargan placed sixth at 184. Full Story...

Old Dominion:
Early Wins Navy Classic, ODU Finishes Fourth


ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Old Dominion wrestling team took a fourth place finish at the Navy Classic, a 16-team event hosted by the Naval Academy. Larry Early took the 157-pound championship on Saturday evening. Making his season debut, Michael McGee made it all the way to the semifinals before falling to No. 16 Shakur Laney of Ohio, 4-2. McGee finished in third after teammate Killian Cardinale took a medical forfeit. After dropping his opening match, Cardinale went on to win five straight to take fourth.  Full Story...

SIU Edwardsville:
Cougars Make Impact At Lindenwood Open


ST. CHARLES, Mo. -- SIUE wrestling's Tyshawn Williams and Nate Higgins were among the top four in their weight classes Saturday at the Lindenwood Open. Williams won three matches for the day at 149 pounds, including a consolation semifinal win over Illinois' Mousa Jodeh 6-2. He opened the day with a convincing 13-4 victory over Baker's Juan Rivera.  Full Story...
