AKRON, Ohio -- NIU got big plays on offense, defense and special teams to post its fifth straight win, 36-26, over Akron, and in the process became bowl eligible for the 10th time in the last 11 years. NIU (6-3, 5-0 MAC) rushed for 296 yards on 69 carries and quarterback Marcus Childers completed 21-of-28 passes for 188 yards, hitting a season-high eight receivers, to lead the Huskies to their best offensive output of the season in total yards (484) and points. Tre Harbison led the way with a career high 169 rushing yards for his third 100-yard day of the season.
 
Defensively, walk-on cornerback Jalen McKieintercepted two passes, returning his first career interception 23 yards for a touchdown with 9:05 to play in the fourth quarter.  His interception turned the Huskies three-point lead into a 10-point margin, and he added a second pickoff on Akron's last drive to seal the win.  The Huskies totaled five sacks and eight tackles for loss while limiting the Zips to 35 rushing yards, the lowest total by an NIU opponent this season. Full Story...

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Ohio (6-3, 4-1 MAC) picked up a dominating victory on Thursday, Nov. 1, defeating MAC West foe Western Michigan (6-4, 4-2 MAC), 59-14, in Kalamazoo. It is the first victory at Western Michigan since Sept. 26, 1998, and the victory has made the Bobcats bowl eligible for the 10th-straight season.

Ohio Head Coach Frank Solich has now won a game in every MAC stadium. Junior quarterback Nathan Rourke finished 12-of-14 with 149 yards and three touchdowns. Rourke added 68 yards rushing for two touchdowns, helping him register his second five touchdown game this season. Redshirt senior running back A.J. Ouellette finished with 71 yards on eight carries and one rushing touchdown. Defensively, the Bobcats capitalized on six Bronco turnovers, scoring 31 points off of them. Full Story...
