Bulls Earn Road Win at Columbia
The University at Buffalo wrestling team traveled downstate and defeated Columbia, 25-13, at University Gymnasium on Saturday Night. The Bulls had four major decisions and a pin to win their fourth dual of the season. Nick Palumbo, a true freshman wrestling in his first career dual, upset Jacob Macalooly in the first match to set the tone. Not only did Palumbo win, but he was dominant, earning the 11-3 major decision.

Central Michigan:
Wreslting Rolls Past Ohio
The Central Michigan wrestling team scored bonus points in three of its eight victories on Sunday in downing Ohio, 29-9, in a Mid-American Conference dual at McGuirk Arena. It was the fourth consecutive dual victory for the 21st-ranked Chippewas, who improved to 5-3 overall, 2-0 MAC. Ohio, which defeated Eastern Michigan in a dual on Friday, is 1-5, 1-3. It was the Chippewas' first competition of the new year, and it came eight days after they turned in an outstanding performance in placing third in the Midlands Championships, annually one of the top tournaments in the nation.

Eagles Fall Shy At Old Dominion
For the second straight dual, the Eastern Michigan University wrestling team fell just short, falling to Old Dominion University, 19-18, in Mid-American Conference dual action Sunday afternoon, Jan. 7, at the Ted Constant Center. EMU (4-5, 0-2 MAC) once again tied its opponent in dual victories, 5-5, but ODU's (3-3, 2-1 MAC) four bonus point wins to EMU's one proved to be the decisive factor in the one-point defeat. Eastern's bonus points came from redshirt sophomore Zac Carson via pin at 165 lbs. It was Carson's third pin of the season and his second in dual action.

Eagles Edged By Ohio, 21-17
Eastern Michigan was edged out, 21-17, in its MAC opening dual against Ohio University Friday evening, Jan. 5, at the OU Convocation Center. Despite tying in dual wins, 5-5, Ohio (1-4, 1-2 MAC) knocked off the Eagles (4-4, 0-1 MAC) by the strength of four bonus point wins. EMU notched two bonus point wins themselves, via major decisions from redshirt freshmen Tomas Gutierrez and Andrew McNally. In the end, Ohio's three major decisions, and the lone pin of the dual, were enough to give the Bobcats the four-point win.

Ohio Wrestling Falls At Central Michigan
The Ohio wrestling team (1-5) suffered a tough 29-9 loss to Mid-American Conference rival Central Michigan on Sunday (Jan. 7) in McGuirk Arena. At 133-pounds, Ohio junior Cameron Kelly would give up an early takedown in the first period and would trail 6-0 halfway through the first period. Kelly would come back in the next two periods with an escape and a takedown followed by a near fall to lessen Simon's lead. Kelly would make the ultimate comeback with a pin to earn an 8-6 comeback win over Simon.

Bobcats Pick Up First Dual Win
The Ohio wrestling team picked up their first dual win of the season, 21-17 over Mid-American Conference foe Eastern Michigan at the Convocation Center Friday. At 133-pounds, Ohio junior Cameron Kelly picked up an 11-2 major decision over Noah Gosner of EMU. In the opening frame, Kelly hit two takedowns and Gosner scored a point on an escape for Kelly to carry a 4-1 lead into the second.

Old Dominion:
Monarchs Earn 19-18 Win Over Eagles
The Old Dominion (3-3, 2-1 MAC) wrestling team won their second MAC dual of the season with a 19-18 win over Eastern Michigan (4-5, 0-2 MAC) on Sunday afternoon at the Ted Constant Center. This is the Monarchs first win over Eastern Michigan since Feb. 13, 2015. The Monarchs and Eagles split the dual, winning five bouts a piece. Although splitting the dual, the Monarchs secured bonus points in four of their five matches, ultimately leading them to their victory over Eastern Michigan.
