Men's Tennis Defeats Belmont

MUNCIE, Ind. – Junior Conner Andersen clinched the Cardinals win over Belmont Sunday afternoon at the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center.  Ball State defeated Belmont by a score of 5-2.  With the win, the Cardinals improved to 2-1 on the season while Belmont falls to 0-3. The Cardinals began the day on a high note, taking the first doubles match from the Bruins after Chris Adams and Tom Carney took down Vincent Sterkents and Jake Brings by a score of 6-2 at the No. 3 spot. Conner Andersen paired up with teammate Marko Guzina at No. 2 doubles but suffered a 6-3 loss to Stephen Goldman and Zak Khan.  After that, the doubles point came down to the top court.  Nemanja Guzina and Thibault de Negri pushed ahead early and went up 4-0 over Hendrik Inno and Marko Ilic.  Full Story...

Cardinals Defeats Eastern Illinois

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State men's tennis team won its spring home opener Saturday afternoon 6-1 over Eastern Illinois in the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center.  With the win, the Cardinals improve to 1-1 on the season while the Panthers fall to 0-2. The Cardinals won the doubles point for their second-straight match of the year after sweeping doubles action from the Panthers.  Ball State's No. 3 duo of Chris Adams and Tom Carney were the first doubles tandem off the court as they took down Jared Woodson and Kaisei Kuroki by a score of 6-1.  Marko Guzina paired up with Conner Andersen to clinch the point at the No. 2 position with their 6-2 win over Gage Kingsmith and Grant Reiman.  At the top spot, Nemanja Guzina and Thibault de Negri captured a 6-4 win to close out doubles play.  Full Story...

Binghamton:
Men's Tennis Loses Spring Opener

HANOVER, N.H. - Binghamton men's tennis drew a tough assignment in its spring opener and fell to Dartmouth 7-0 Saturday morning at the Boss Tennis Center. The host Big Green captured the doubles point and dropped just one set in sweeping through the singles matches. Junior No. 4 Inigo Saez had the most success, forcing a third-set super tiebreak after winning the second set 6-4 against Max Fliegner. Full Story...

Huskies Split Matches To Open Season

DES MOINES, Iowa -- The Northern Illinois University men's tennis team split a pair of matches on Saturday against Drake and Tennessee Tech as they opened the dual match portion of their season. The Huskies dropped a 4-0 decision to the Drake Bulldogs in the morning before bouncing back with a dramatic, 4-3 victory over Tennessee Tech in the afternoon. In the first match of the day against Drake, the defending Missouri Valley Conference champion and preseason favorite in the Summit League, NIU dropped the matches at one and two doubles to give the first point to the Bulldogs.  Full Story...

Toledo:
Rockets Beat Wright State

Dayton, Ohio – The Toledo men's tennis team was in action for the third time in four days on Sunday, winning five of six singles matches and the doubles point to secure a 6-1 match victory over Wright State in Dayton. In doubles play, juniors Luka Vitosevic and Vince Anzalone earned a 6-4 victory in the No. 2 spot, while junior Serjen Olmedo and sophomore Thawin Suksathaporn secured the doubles point for the Rockets with a 7-6(3) victory.  Full Story...

Men's Tennis Falls At Dayton

Dayton, Ohio – The Toledo men's tennis team dropped the second match of its three-match road trip on Saturday, falling to the Dayton Flyers by a final score of 6-1. In doubles competition, the Rockets fell in the opening two matches, while the third doubles match went unfinished, with Serjen Olmedo and Thawin Suksathaporn leading 6-5 in the first set. Full Story...

Rockets Fall in Season Opener

The Toledo men's tennis team dropped its opening match of the season on Thursday when it faced Louisville at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. The Rockets fell to the Cardinals by a final match score of 6-1. The Rockets will continue their road trip on Saturday, when they head up Interstate 75 to face the University of Dayton. Broncos Finish Weekend With Win Over Tennessee Tech

DES MOINES, Iowa – The Western Michigan men's tennis team got back on track Sunday afternoon, defeating Tennessee Tech 4-0 at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center on the campus of Drake University. The Broncos finished the three-match weekend 2-1, improving to 4-1 on the season. After falling in a close 4-3 match against Drake yesterday, the Broncos came out on a mission to play against the Golden Eagles. The Brown and Gold swept all doubles matches to earn the doubles point and as a team are now 10-5 in dual-match season.  Full Story...

Men's Tennis Falls To Drake

DES MOINES, Iowa – The Western Michigan men's tennis team gave Drake a battle Saturday afternoon, but the Broncos ultimately fell 4-3 on the road. The loss hands WMU its first loss of the season for a 3-1 overall record this spring. The Bulldogs pulled out to a 3-1 lead over the Broncos after sweeping the doubles point and winning in straight at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively. Full Story...

Broncos Defeat Iowa To Remain Unbeaten

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Western Michigan men's tennis team remained undefeated this season as the Broncos defeated Iowa 5-2 on the road, the first win over the Hawkeyes since Feb. 19, 2012. WMU improves to 3-0 in the spring and will continue play in Iowa tomorrow against Drake at 7 p.m. After Iowa won the first doubles match of the day, the duo of Eric Olivarez/Nick Schnobel earned a 6-4 win at No. 2 to improve to 2-0 this season and bring the doubles point down to the final match.
