-NIU's 21-17 win over Nebraska marked the first-ever win for a MAC football program against Nebraska. The win also marked the second consecutive week for the MAC with a win against a Big Ten opponent. The MAC’s current streak of a win over Big Ten opponents in each of the last 12 consecutive seasons (2006-17) is the longest streak in MAC history.
-During this 12-year stretch, MAC teams have defeated 12 different Big Ten programs—Illinois (3); Indiana (5); Iowa (3); Maryland (1); Michigan (1); Michigan State (1); Minnesota (2); Nebraska (1); Northwestern (2); Penn State (1), Purdue (5) and Rutgers (1) for a total of 26 wins during this stretch. Miami (13), Bowling Green (8), Toledo (6), Central Michigan (6) and Northern Illinois (6) have the most MAC wins vs. Big Ten opponents.
-Ohio's 42-30 win over Kansas marked the second consecutive week for the MAC to defeat the Jayhawks. Last week Central Michigan won in Lawrence, Kansas, with a 45-27 outcome. The MAC has won the last three meetings against Kansas as Ohio also defeated Kansas, 37-21, in 2016.
-Toledo's 54-51 win over Tulsa witnessed both teams combine for 1,227 total yards of offense -- Toledo (679) - Tulsa (548) -- which tied for ninth most for a single-game in MAC history. Toledo quarterback Logan Woodside threw for 6 touchdowns, which tied for fourth most in MAC single-game history.

LINCOLN, Neb. -- The Northern Illinois University Huskies continued its recent string of success versus Big Ten opponents with a fourth-quarter rally to defeat the University of Nebraska, 21-17 Saturday in front of 89,664 fans at Memorial Stadium. After NIU scored the first 14 points of the game on interception return touchdowns, Nebraska put 17 straight points on the board in the second half before NIU responded with a game-winning drive and two defensive stops in the final six minutes of the game. The win was NIU's sixth in its last 10 games versus Big Ten opponents since 2009 and the fourth in five games under Head Coach Rod Carey.

ATHENS, Ohio -- A big day passing from Nathan Rourke plus a 100-yard rusher resulted in win No. 2 of the Ohio football season on Saturday (Sept. 16) at Peden Stadium as the Bobcats defeated Kansas 42-30. The dual-threat quarterback, in his first collegiate start, threw for 152 yards two touchdowns and rushed for a touchdown. Rourke was 11-for-16 on the day. Running back A.J. Ouellette picked up 102 yards and a touchdown on the ground, the first Bobcat this season to rush over 100-yards. The last time he rushed over 100-yards came on Nov. 24, 2015 at Northern Illinois, a 140-yard game.

AKRON, Ohio -- Akron fell, 41-14, to the Iowa State Cyclones at InfoCision Stadium- Summa Field on Saturday afternoon. The Zips fell to 1-2 on the season, while the Cyclone improved to 2-1 overall. Senior QB Thomas Woodson carried the offense with 240 yards of the Zips 331 yards of total offense. He completed 25-of-40 passes with two touchdowns. Junior WR Kwadarrius Smith led the receiving corps with 76 yards and a touchdown on three receptions. Senior WR Tra'Von Chapman followed, catching eight passes for 53 yards, while senior WR A.J Coney had four receptions for 52 yards.

MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Ball State football team will certainly find things it hopes to clean up from Saturday's performance against Tennessee Tech. But at the end of the day, the Cardinals (2-1) posted another home victory. Riley Neal threw three first-half touchdown passes, the Ball State defense refused to break, and the Cardinals led from start to finish in a 28-13 victory at Scheumann Stadium. Ball State sophomore Malik Dunner made a momentum-changing play for the second straight week to keep the Cardinals comfortably in front. After a Tennessee Tech field goal cut the lead to 21-13 with 2:57 to play in the third quarter, Dunner took a handoff and broke through for a 66-yard touchdown run.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse rolled up 579 yards in total offense and scored 31 straight points in running away from the Chippewas, 41-17, on Saturday before 33,004 at the Carrier Dome. The loss was CMU’s first of the season. The Chippewas (2-1) open Mid-American Conference play on Saturday, Sept. 23, at home against Miami (Ohio). Syracuse improved to 2-1. Quarterback Shane Morris threw two touchdown passes, the second of which put the Chippewas in front, 17-10, midway through the second quarter.

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The University at Buffalo football team rolled up 486 yards of total offense to defeat Colgate, 33-10, in the home opener at UB Stadium on Saturday night. The Bulls scored on their first five possessions of the game to jump out to a 30-3 lead and never looked back. Buffalo rushed for a season-high 302 yards on 58 carries in the game. Sophomore Emmanuel Reed had a breakout game for the Bulls, rushing for a career-high 120 yards. Quarterback Tyree Jackson also posted a career-high in rushing yards with 97 on only 12 carries.

HUNTINGTON, W.V. -- Kent State kept itself within striking distance of Marshall through three-and-a-half quarters, but the Thundering Herd pulled away late for a 21-0 home victory Saturday at Joan Edwards Stadium. The Golden Flashes' offense made three trips inside Marshall's 25, but could not find the end zone. A 72-yard drive to the Herd's nine, ended on a fourth-and-one stop at the line of scrimmage. The Flashes also missed a field goal and had a pass intercepted in the end zone.

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Western Michigan scored 21 points in the second half to come from behind and give head coach Tim Lester his first win at his alma mater after defeating Idaho, 37-28, in front of 25,732 fans at Waldo Stadium on Saturday night. Sophomore quarterback Jon Wassink had a career night with 212 yards passing and three total touchdowns.The Grand Rapids, Mich., native went 21-for-31 through the air with one touchdown and ran for 38 yards and two touchdowns. WMU forced three turnovers and scored 13 points off of them to help flip the game in the second half.

TOLEDO, Ohio -- On a night in which the University of Toledo honored some of the greatest players in its 100-year history, the Rockets and senior quarterback Logan Woodside came through with a performance worthy of the ages. Woodside threw for 458 yards and a school-record tying six touchdowns as the Rockets rallied from a 21-point deficit to defeat Tulsa, 54-51, before 24,239 joyous fans at the Glass Bowl Saturday night. The third-biggest comeback in the 100-year history of the program was not completed until junior placekicker Jameson Vest booted a 33-yard field goal with no time on the clock.

OXFORD, Ohio -- As has been the case in most recent Battle for the Victory Bell tilts, the Miami football team came achingly close to bringing the bell back to Oxford before a Cincinnati rally. The RedHawks (1-2) held a 17-6 lead with under five minutes remaining, but the Bearcats scored 15 points down the stretch to prevail 21-17 at Yager Stadium on Saturday night. A 14-yard interception return by Malik Clements with 1:07 left in regulation proved the winning score as UC completed the comeback.
