Bulls Win MAC Regular Season With Perfect League Record
BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo men's tennis team concluded its unblemished Mid-American Conference regular season on Sunday with a 4-3 victory over Northern Illinois, clinching the outright MAC Regular Season title with a perfect 7-0 record. The Bulls become the first MAC team to go 7-0 in league play since Ball State in 1999. It was a fight for UB, who was playing its third match in five days. The Huskies got the better of the Bulls early on, claiming the doubles point with wins at one and two. The Bulls did get a win at three as Ethan Nittolo and Tony Miller won 6-2. It was a big win for Miller, who was honored before the match as Buffalo's lone senior.

No. 2 Western Michigan:
Men's Tennis Set To Host MAC Championship
KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan University, along with the men's tennis team, are set to host the four-team 2017 Mid-American Conference Tournament this weekend from Friday, April 28 to Saturday, April 29. Matches will either take place at Sorensen Courts (outdoors) or West Hills Athletic Club (indoors), depending on weather. The Broncos, who come into the tournament as the No. 2 seed, are eyeing their 11th MAC Tournament title and are looking to repeat after last year's Tournament Championship. WMU will face No. 3 seeded Ball State on Friday, April 28 at 2 p.m. following No. 1 Buffalo vs. No. 4 Northern Illinois at 10 a.m.
Western Michigan went 2-0 against Ball State this season, first earning a 5-2 win at home over the Cardinals on March 24 and then traveling to Muncie and winning 4-3 on April 14. In the two matches this season, junior Maik Steiner and sophomore Matej Svjetlicic were the lone Broncos to go 2-0 against the Cardinals while Matt Hamilton and Kennosuke Nouchi each went 1-1. In both matches, Western Michigan won the doubles point.

Men's Tennis To Face Western Michigan on Friday
MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State men's tennis team will be the No. 3 seed for the second-straight season in this weekend's 2017 Mid-American Conference Tournament which will be hosted by No. 2 Western Michigan in Kalamazoo, Mich. The Cardinals will play their first tournament match Friday at 2 p.m. against the Broncos. Ball State enters the tournament with a 13-12 overall mark and a 2-5 conference ledger while Western Michigan owns a 15-7 record for the year and finished 5-2 in the MAC.
Ball State last won the MAC Tournament in 2014 where the Cardinals won the title after defeating Buffalo, 4-3, at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center. Ball State head men's tennis coach Bill Richards is in his 45th season at the helm of the Cardinals, having led the program to 22 MAC titles, including 17 undefeated MAC seasons. Ball State has participated in the MAC for the last 36 years, claiming 38 regular season and or tournament championships. Since the MAC tournament format started in 1997, Ball State has won it seven times (1998, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2011 and 2014).

NIU Set For MAC Men's Tennis Tournament
DEKALB, Ill. – The Northern Illinois University men's tennis team will open the Mid-American Conference Tournament on Friday, April 28, when they face top-seeded Buffalo in the semifinals. The match between the Huskies and Bulls will take place at 9 a.m., in Kalamazoo, Mich. NIU enters the MAC Tournament with a 13-11 overall record, 2-5 in league play, and is seeded fourth at this weekend's tournament. The Huskies visited Buffalo just last Sunday (April 23) in the regular season finale, a 4-3 win by the Bulls. The Huskies have four players who have won 10-or-more dual matches this season, led by 12 victories from juniors Louis-Philippe Hamel and Georg Lundkvist. In doubles play, Lundkvist and senior Eric Marbach have recorded a 15-7 dual match record, all playing at number one, while Hamel and junior Tom Hjertonsson have combined for 12 dual victories.
