CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- The Missouri Tigers won their fifth consecutive MAC Wrestling Tournament Championship in dominating fashion with 154.5 total team points and six Tigers were crowned as individual champions.
MAC Wrestling Championships host Northern Iowa finished second with 106.5 points, only three points over third-place Central Michigan with 103.5 team points. Old Dominion finished fourth with 94 points, while Northern Illinois ranked fifth with 92 points and Buffalo finished sixth with 80.5 team points. Eastern Michigan (64), Ohio (62.5) and Kent State (55) rounded out the team scoring.
Missouri had six wrestlers crowned as MAC Individual Champions as John Erneste (133), Jaydin Eierman (141), Lavion Mayes (149), Joey Lavallee (157), Daniel Lewis (165) and J'den Cox (197) all won their respective weight classes. For Cox it was his fourth consecutive MAC individual championship at the 197 weight class.
Four programs had individual winners as Buffalo, Northern Iowa, Ohio and Old Dominion each were represented with one individual champion. Host Northern Iowa was paced by Taylor Lujan at 174, while Ohio's Shakur Laney began the day with winning the 125-pound weight class. For Old Dominion, senior Jack Dechow won the 184-pound weight class, while Buffalo's Jake Gunning won the heavyweight class as a No. 5 seed for the Bulls.
