Eastern Michigan captured their third staright Mid-American Conference Men's Swimming & Diving Championship Saturday night.
The Eagles compiled 717 total points throughout the four-day event. Missouri State finished second compiling 716 points and Buffalo was third with 661.5 points. Miami (518.5), Southern Illinois (489), Ball State(147), and Evansville (146) rounded out the event.
Missouri State’s Antonio Thomas started off the evening by claiming the 1650 freestyle title in a championship, meet, conference and pool of 14:56.02. Eastern Michigan’s Kyle Lichtenberg placed second in the event for the second consecutive year with a time of 15:12.04, and Thomas' teammate Minki Kang placed third in a time of 15:24.13.
Buffalo's Mason Miller took home the 100 Freestyle title in a time of 44.03 and picked up considerations for the NCAA B Cut.
Eastern Michigan sophomore Tosh Kawaguchi claimed the 200 Backstroke Championship title with a time of 1:44.73. Southern Illinois’ Filippo Dell'Olio claimed his second straight 200 Butterfly title in record breaking fashion with a time of 1:45.55.
Missouri State’s Phillip Willett claimed the 200 Breaststroke title in a time of 1:57.07 and picked up considerations for the NCAA B Cut.
The 3-meter diving title was won by Eastern Michigan’s Alexander Chan for the fourth straight year. He tied his score from last year's Championship with a toal of 422.75 points breaking the pool and conference record.
Buffalo won the final race of the evening as the relay team of Eric Jensen, Hudson Carroll, Martin Leigh, and Mason Miller claimed the 400 Free Relay in a time of 2:58.44. Missouri State finished in second (2:59.13) and Eastern Michigan took home third (3:00.32).
