Mid-American Conference

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Mid-American Conference announced its 2017 Women's Indoor Track & Field Academic All-MAC team Monday.

Of the 167 student-athletes named to the team, 13 of them recorded a perfect 4.0 grade point average; Rebecca Pietsch (Akron, Organizational Supervision), Becca Rae (Bowling Green, Communication Disorders), Rachel Walny (Bowling Green, Exercise Science), Jordann McDermitt (Eastern Michigan, Exercise Science) Morgan Bing (Kent State, Exercise Science), Sam Tollerud (Kent State, Exercise Science), Alison Olson (Northern Illinois, Sports Management), Hope Schmelzle (Northern Illinois, Psychology), Alyssa Atkinson (Ohio, Electrical Engineering), Abby Lawrence (Ohio, Pre-Social Work and Spanish), Christina Seas (Ohio, Accounting), Nautica Hill (Toledo, Accounting), Alexa Jarrett (Leadership Development).

Kent State leads the conference with 22 student-athletes receiving academic honors. Ohio follows close behind with 20, while Buffalo and Miami each placed 18 ladies on the team.

The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport.
