Cleveland, Ohio – No. 6 seed Kent State defeated No. 1 seed Akron with a 70-65 final in the Mid-American Conference Men's Basketball Tournament Championship Game, presented by VisitMyrtleBeach.com, at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland on Saturday.  

The win for Kent State marked the first MAC Championship for the Golden Flashes since 2008. A crowd of 10,376 fans were in attendance at the Q. This game marked the third meeting in the last 22 days between these MAC rivals.

Kent State was led by sophomore Jaylin Walker with 30 points, while senior forward Jimmy Hall added 19 points. Kent State led 27-24 at the half and outscored the Zips 43-41 in the second half.

Akron was led by senior center Isaiah Johnson with 24 points, while sophomore Jimond Ivey added 18 points.
