ATHENS, Ohio -- Behind a stifling defense, which saw the Rockets just total 316 yards, the Ohio football team knocked off Mid-American West Division leader Toledo 38-10 on Wednesday's senior night (Nov. 8) at Peden Stadium. The Bobcats improved to 8-2 on the season and 5-1 in Mid-American Conference play. The loss marked the first loss in conference play for Toledo. 

The Ohio defense held Toledo quarterback Logan Woodside to just 263 yards and two touchdowns, while the Rockets running game struggled with just 53 yards. Redshirt senior linebacker Quentin Poling finished the game with 12 tackles and three tackles for loss, setting the program career record with 44.0 tackles for loss. As a team, Ohio played its most well-rounded game of the year. Despite three turnovers, the offense totaled 532 yards, led by sophomore quarterback Nathan Rourke 139 passing yards and two total touchdowns. He finished the game rushing for 115 yards, for the third time this season, and was 7 of 15 passing. Full Story...

Western Michigan 48, Kent State 20

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Western Michigan scored three defensive touchdowns to become bowl eligible for a program record fourth straight year in a 48-20 victory over Kent State on Wednesday night inside Waldo Stadium. Western Michigan forced four turnovers on the night scoring 21 points off those turnovers with two interception returns and a fumble recovery. Overall the Broncos had 11 tackles for loss and three sacks.

Senior linebacker Robert Spillane corralled his third career interception and returned it 35 yards for a touchdown on Kent State's first series of the game to score the first defensive touchdown of the night. Fellow senior Darius Phillips recorded his fifth career interception return for a touchdown late in the second quarter to tie the FBS record, returning it 43 yards. Phillips now has 12 runbacks for touchdowns and is the FBS record holder. This season, Phillips has four runbacks in the form of two kick returns, an interception and a fumble recovery.  Full Story...

MT. PLEASANT, Mich. -- Central Michigan defensive back Amari Coleman's interception returned 34 yards for a touchdown with 48 seconds left in regulation secured a 42-30 win over Eastern Michigan on Wednesday night at Kelly/Shorts Stadium.  Central Michigan running back Jonathan Ward ran for a career-high 159 yards and scored two touchdowns. The win lifted Central Michigan to 6-4, 4-2 in the MAC, making it bowl eligible for the 10th time in the last 12 seasons. Eastern Michigan falls to 3-7 overall, 1-5 in the MAC.

It was the second-consecutive big game for Ward, who also caught one pass for 27 yards to finish with 186 yards on 20 touches from scrimmage. Last week, he sparked CMU to a 35-28 win over Western Michigan with 213 all-purpose yards. Chippewa quarterback Shane Morris finished 11 of 18 passing for 155 yards and three touchdowns. Two of his scoring passes went to Corey Willis, who finished with six receptions for 71 yards. Willis has a team-high six TD receptions this season. All six have come in the last three games.  Full Story...
