Central Michigan:
Atienza, Marten Lead Chippewas At EMU Open
Jordan Atienza and Drew Marten placed first in their respective weight classes to lead the Central Michigan wrestling team on Saturday at the Eastern Michigan Open at the Eagles’ Convocation Center. A total of 13 Chippewas earned a top-six finish. No team scores were kept. The Chippewas entertain Michigan State at McGuirk Arena on Friday, Nov. 17 in their first dual of the season. Atienza, a junior, went 3-0 to win the 197-pound weight class in the Open Division on Saturday at EMU. Marten, a freshman, finished 4-0 to capture the 133-pound title in the Freshman-Sophomore Division. Full Story...

Kent State
Flashes Top Virginia and Hofstra
Kent State improved to 5-0 with dual meet victories over Virginia and Hofstra Saturday at the Journeymen Northeast Duals inside Shenendehowa High School.  Three down-to-the-wire matches went in the Golden Flashes favor in a 20-18 win over Virginia, including a pair of overtime victories. In the afternoon showdown, the Flashes won eight straight matches in a 26-12 victory over Hofstra.  On the day, Kent State took 14-of-18 matches decided on the mat as the Flashes forfeited 125 pounds in both duals. Junior heavyweight Devin Nye took the center of the mat with his team trailing the Cavaliers 18-17.  After three periods, he and Tyler Love were tied 1-1, but a Nye shot on a re-attack in sudden victory gave him the winning takedown.

Missouri:
Tigers Sweep In-State Duals with Bonus Points Galore
No. 5 Mizzou Wrestling (4-0, 0-0 MAC) swept three duals on Sunday at the Hearnes Center, recording shutout victories in each dual as the Tigers defeated Missouri Valley, 52-0, Truman State, 58-0, and Central Missouri, 56-(-1). Mizzou was dominant throughout the day, as the Tigers won all 26 bouts that were wrestled, and recorded bonus points in 25 wins, including 17 falls, 15 of which occurred in the first period. Full Story...

Northern Illinois:
Huskie Grapplers Battle at EMU Open
The Northern Illinois wrestling team continues its strong start to its 2017-18 season as five grapplers finished in the top-three in their respective weight classes at the EMU Open on Saturday.  Freshman Brit Wilson won the freshman and sophomore division championship at the 174-weight class by a 6-2 decision over Purdue University's Anthony Falbo.  This is Wilson's second consecutive win at 174 as he was victorious at last week's Iowa State Open.  Wilson's ride to the championship included a 10-1 major decision victory over league foe Jack Marsh of Eastern Michigan in the quarterfinals.  Full Story...

Old Dominion:
Old Dominion Falls to No. 24 Northwestern, 17-16, Defeats Gardner-Webb, 30-3
The Old Dominion (1-1) men’s wrestling team defeated Gardner Webb (0-3), 30-3 and fell to No. 24 Northwestern (2-0), 17-16 on Sunday afternoon in front of over 500 fans. The highlight of the day was nearly defeating Big 10 team and No. 24 ranked Northwestern. Although down a starter at 184, ODU rallied until the very last minute. Picking up a major decision against Northwestern, Alex Madrigal defeated Alec Mckenna, 12-1 at 141. Full Story...
