KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Central Michigan stormed back with 21 fourth quarter points for a 35-28 win at Western Michigan on a rainy Wednesday night at Waldo Stadium. Central Michigan turned a 28-14 deficit into a 35-28 win to claim the rivalry victory in the 'Battle of the Cannon Trophy'. With the win, Central Michigan improves to 5-4 overall, 3-2 in the MAC, while Western Michigan drops to 5-4 on the year, also 3-2 in league play.
In the fourth quarter, Chippewas running back Jonathan Ward's 29 yard touchdown run and quarterback Shane Morris' nine-yard touchdown pass to Eric Cooper tied the contest, 28-28, with 5:50 remaining. Central Michigan's Morris then connected with Corey Willis for a 77-yard touchdown pass with 2:37 left in regulation for the game winning score and a 35-28 final.
