Western Michigan and Akron ranked in Top 10 by NCAA

INDIANAPOLIS — As the 2017 college soccer regular season winds down and with conference tournaments approaching, the NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Committee announced its top 10 ranking during the ESPNU telecast of Indiana vs. Michigan State on Sunday, Oct. 29.
The Mid-American Conference was the lone non-Power 5 conference to have multiple teams in the top-10 rankings.
The Western Michigan University men's soccer team who was projected as the No. 8 national seed, is 14-2-1 overall on the season and 4-0-0 in the MAC. The Broncos finish out the regular season next Saturday, Nov. 4, hosting Bowling Green on Senior Day at 1 p.m.
The University of Akron men’s soccer team found itself projected as the No. 10 national seed. The Zips are currently own a 12-3-1 overall record and are 3-1-0 MAC play. The Zips return to action on Wednesday, Nov. 1, as Akron welcomes Marshall to FirstEnergy Stadium – Cub Cadet Field.
The 2017 championship field will consist of 24 automatic qualifiers and 24 at-large selections, which will be revealed on Monday, Nov. 13 at 1 p.m. on NCAA.com. The top 16 teams will be seeded and receive first-round byes before hosting second round games.
