Zips Drop Close Match To West Virginia, 4-3
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The Akron Zips women's tennis team dropped a close 4-3 match to West Virginia on Saturday afternoon at Ridgview Racquet Club in Morgantown. Akron falls to 1-2 on the season, while West Virginia is also 1-2. The Zips earned the doubles point as the pairs of senior Karalina Maksimava and junior Carli Knezevich and junior Sophia Geier and junior Ariadna Blinova each earned wins.

Ball State:
Women's Tennis Wins Home Opener Against Dayton, 6-1
MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State women's tennis team continues to be successful during spring play earning yet another win today against Dayton. The Cardinals now 3-1 with their only loss coming against No. 2 North Carolina, defeated the Flyers Sunday afternoon by a score of 6-1 in the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center. Dayton fell behind early by dropping the doubles point to Ball State. The Cardinals team of Peyton Gollhofer and Audrey Berger downed Marlys Bridgham and Jade Kawamoto 6-2 at No. 3 doubles. Toni Ormond and Carmen Blanco clinched the point for Ball State with a 6-1 win over Mandy Marchant and Jade Kawamoto at the No. 1 position.

Falcons Rally To Down IUPUI, 4-3
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University tennis team earned a 4-3 win over the IUPUI Jaguars Friday afternoon, picking up the team's first victory of the 2017 season and giving head coach Stephanie Dalmacio her first win as head coach of the Falcons. In doubles, sophomore Paula Comella and freshman Marharita-Sophia Tavpash were first off the courts at No. 1 as they picked up a 6-2 win over IUPUI's Valeriia Lavrenchuk and Samantha Mayer.

Eagles Pick Up First Win
YPSILANTI, Mich. – The Eastern Michigan University tennis team opened up its home season Saturday, Jan. 28, when it hosted Oakland University at the Chippewa Racquet Club. The Eagles (1-3) were able to pick up their first win of the 2017 dual season, defeating the Golden Grizzlies, 6-1. The match began with a bang for Eastern Michigan as the Green and White took the doubles point with ease. Andrea Martinovska and Marie Mayerova teamed up at No. 1 doubles to take down Samantha Galloway and Alexandra Whall, 6-2, while Ani Gogvadze and Maria Paula Ribero knocked off Daria Artamonova and Amanda Nillson, 6-3, to secure the 1-0 lead.

Eagles Drop 5-2 Decision To Duquesne
SOUTHFIELD, Mich. -- The Eastern Michigan University tennis team continued the 2017 dual season with a match against Duquesne University Saturday night, Jan. 28, at the Franklin Athletic Club. After defeating Oakland University 6-1 earlier in the day, the Eagles (1-4) were knocked off by the Dukes (3-1), 5-2 in Southfield, Mich. The match began with doubles play as Duquesne's Julianne Herman and Kylie Isaacs defeated Marie Mayerova and Andrea Martinovska, 6-3, in the No. 1 spot, while Renu Sharma and Anna Veleva fell to Aishwarya Kona and Laurel Shymansky, 6-1, at No. 3, to fall behind 1-0.

RedHawks Fall To Cincinnati, 5-2
HAMILTON, Ohio – Miami University women’s tennis team fell in its home opener against the University of Cincinnati, 5-2, at Riverside Athletic Club on Saturday afternoon. The match opened with a moment of silence to honor the passing of Miami junior and women’s tennis player, Erin Rodriguez, who passed away recently. The RedHawks started off strong in the doubles competition. Sophomore Anzhelika Shapovalova and junior Hannah Shteyn kicked things off with a win over Caroline Morton and Anna Philp of UC, 6-3. The Bearcats came back with a (6-4) win at no. 1 where Lauren Bellinger and Kelly Poggensee-Wei defeated juniors Nelli Ponomareva and Anastasiia Vasiukhina.

Huskies Suffer Set Back at Iowa
IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Northern Illinois University women's tennis team fell at Iowa, 7-0, at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex Saturday. Adey Osabuohien and Raven Neely remained undefeated at No. 1 doubles. The Huskie duo posted a 5-4 win over Elsie Van Heuvelen and Zoe Douglas. However, it was NIU's only victory on the afternoon.

Rockets Down Cleveland State, 6-1
TOLEDO, OH – Toledo downed Cleveland State, 6-1, on Saturday afternoon at the Shadow Valley Tennis Club. With their third-consecutive win, the Rockets improve to 3-2 on the season. The Rockets had an extremely strong showing in their doubles matches vs. Cleveland State. Rocket duo Claire Aleck and Mimi Kendall-Woseley downed their rivals, 6-2, at the No. 2 spot, and Rani Goodland and Megan Miller sailed to a 6-3 victory at No. 3 doubles.

Rockets Down Duquesne, 4-3
TOLEDO, OH – Toledo rallied in its second-straight victory of the season in the form of a 4-3 defeat over Duquesne on Friday afternoon. The Rockets improved their record to 2-2 on the season. UT got a head start against the Dukes with a tough 7-6 victory from its double team of junior Sidnay Huck and freshman DeeDee Leenabanchong. Their victories lead them to the duo's fourth-consecutive win at No. 1 doubles. Sophomores Rani Goodland and Claire Aleck also paired up to claim a 6-3 win over their opponents at No. 3 doubles.

Western Michigan:
Broncos Roll IUPUI At Home
KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan women's tennis team got back to winning fashion on Saturday with an impressive 7-0 victory over IUPUI. The win gives WMU a 3-2 overall record this spring while holding a 3-0 record at home. It was all Broncos on Saturday afternoon at the West Hills Athletic Club. Western Michigan began the day winning the doubles point including a Denise Azcui/Katja Fevralev win that improves their record to 4-1 this season. WMU didn't lose a single set in singles, as Tracy Kuhle, Melina Lyubomirova, Azcui, Barbare Eristavi, Fevralev and Gabriela Slavova all earned wins in singles. Eristavi, the senior, improved to a team-best 14-3 after the win on Saturday.
