Ball State:
Women's Tennis Victorious Over UNCG, 6-1
CHAPEL HILL, North Carolina - The Ball State women's tennis team closed its three-match road trip in North Carolina Sunday afternoon with a 6-1 win over the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.  With the win, the Cardinals improve to 2-1 overall while the Spartans fall to 0-1. Ball State only dropped one game between its two doubles matches that earned the Cardinals their first point.  Carmen Blanco alongside Toni Ormond swept their opponents Blaine Boaz and Masey DeMoss by a score of 6-0 on court two.  On the top court, Audrey Berger and Julia Sbircea defeated Alice Taylor and Yasmin Franco, 6-1 for the doubles point.  Peyton Gollhoferand Rosalinda Calderon were up 5-3 in their No. 3 doubles match before the point had been decided. Full Story...

Cardinals Split Matches In North Carolina
CHAPEL HILL, North Carolina - The Ball State women's tennis team split its opening day of spring action when it fell 7-0 to North Carolina in the morning match and then rebounded in their afternoon's competition after posting a 7-0 sweep over North Carolina Central University. Although the Cardinals lost to the Tarheels they still competed in both doubles and singles action.  Audrey Berger teamed up with Julia Sbircea in the doubles potion and was the first match off the court falling to Hayley Carter and Alex Graham by a score of 6-1. North Carolina claimed the doubles point after Rebecca Herrington and teammate Rosalinda Calderondropped a 6-2 decision to Sra Daavettila and Rachael James-Baker on court three.  Despite dropping the doubles point, Carmen Blanco and Toni Ormond showed promise at the No. 2 spot, taking three games from Makenna Jones and Cassandra Vazquez. Full Story...

Eastern Michigan:
Eagles Fall in East Lansing to Michigan State
EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Eastern Michigan tennis team dropped its third-straight dual match Sunday, Jan. 22, when it traveled to East Lansing to square off with Michigan State. The Eagles (0-3) were unable to pick up a point in the 7-0 loss to the Spartans (1-0) Sunday morning. In doubles action, the duo of Andrea Martinovska and Marie Mayerova were leading 5-3 at No. 1 doubles but were cut short following losses in the second and third slots. Ani Gogvadze and Maria Paula Ribero fell 6-2 at No. 2, while Renu Sharma and Anna Veleva teamed up at No. 3 but dropped a 6-3 decision. Full Story...

Miami:
RedHawks Return To Courts, Fall 5-2 at Kentucky
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Miami University’s women’s tennis team kicked of its season today with a match against the University of Kentucky. The RedHawks played hard, but ultimately fell 5-2. Junior Nelli Ponomareva came out on top in her singles match vs. Kentucky’s Justina Mikulshkyte, Ponomareva handily took the first set, 6-1. She fell short in the second 3-6, but returned in the final set to win 6-1. Sophomore Anzhelika Shapovalova fell in her match to UK’s Aldila Sutjiadi, (7-5, 6-1). Northern Illinois:
Huskies Fall At Minnesota, 7-0
MINNEAPOLIS – The Northern Illinois University women's tennis team suffered a 7-0 setback to Minnesota in the dual-match season opener at the Baseline Tennis Center Saturday. Adey Osabuohien (Hazel Crest, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) and Raven Neely (Grosse Point, Mich./Grosse Point South) scored NIU's (0-1) lone victory on the day at No. 1 doubles. Toledo:
Toledo Records First Victory of the Season vs. Chicago State, 6-1
Chicago, IL – Toledo recorded its first victory of the season in the form of a 6-1 win over Chicago State on Sunday Morning. With the win the Rockets improve to 1-2 on the season. The Rockets jumped out in front against Chicago State with a pair of victories from its doubles teams. Junior Sidnay Huck and freshman Deedee Leenabanchong paired up to post their third-consecutive victory at No. 1 doubles. The Rocket duo claimed a 6-2 win over the Cougars, while sophomore Claire Aleck and freshman Mimi Kendall-Woseley also defeated their competition, 6-4, at No. 2 doubles. Full Story...

Rockets Fall To UIC, 5-2
CHICAGO, IL – The Rockets fell to Illinois-Chicago, 5-2, on Saturday afternoon in its first match of the weekend. Toledo will head into tomorrow's match vs. Chicago State with a record of 0-2. Toledo came out on top of the doubles action. The Rocket duo of junior Sidnay Huck and freshman Deedee Leenabanchong claimed a victory at No. 1 doubles for the second-straight match. Women's Tennis Falls At Indiana
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Western Michigan women's tennis suffered its first loss of the young season on the road Saturday afternoon, as B1G foe Indiana topped the Broncos 7-0 after WMU started the season 2-0. In doubles, Western Michigan claimed the match at No. 2 as Olivia Myers/Denise Azcui improved to 6-1 this season with a 6-2 victory over Bernard/Robinson.
