EVANSTON, Ill. - The Akron Zips women's tennis team notched its first win of the season with a 7-0 victory over Chicago State on Sunday afternoon at Combe Tennis Center in Evanston. Akron evens its record at 1-1 on the season, while Chicago State drops to 0-2.

Eagles Suffer 6-1 Setback At Marshall
HUNGTINGON, W.V. -- Eastern Michigan University's tennis team dropped its second match of the season, 6-1, on the road at Marshall University. After losing the doubles point, the Eagles (0-2) were only able to pick up one point in singles play as Maria Paula Ribero took home a three-set win.

Eagles Fall in Dual Opener
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Eastern Michigan tennis fell in its opening dual match of the 2017 campaign. The Eagles (0-1) fell, 4-3, after a hard fought dual with Youngstown State University. The Eagles fell in doubles play despite winning its No. 1 doubles match, 6-4. Marie Mayerova and Andrea Martinovska defeated Dominika Lackova and Ana Stroe, however both the No. 2 and 3 doubles teams were unable to pickup wins, dropping the doubles point and falling behind, 1-0.

Rockets Drop Season Opener at Purdue
West Lafayette, IN – Toledo (0-1) dropped its season-opener to Big Ten member Purdue, 6-1, on Saturday afternoon in West Lafayette, IN. Purdue jumped out front by claiming the doubles point. Junior Sidnay Huck and freshman Deedee Leenabanchong paired up to notch a 6-4 victory over the Boilermakers at first doubles.

Women's Tennis Opens Spring with Dominating Wins Over Oakland & Valpo
KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan women's tennis team opened up the 2016-17 Spring season in an impressive way, earning wins over Oakland (6-1) and Valparaiso (7-0) to start the season a perfect 2-0. In the early match against Oakland, the Broncos came away with a 6-1 victory, winning the doubles point and all singles besides No. 6 to win 6-1. Senior Barbare Eristavi became the team's leader in singles wins with an easy 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 4 while senior Tracy Kuhle earned a comeback win at No. 3, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2.
