EVANSTON, Ill. -- Western Michigan earned the program's first win over a Big Ten opponent since 2008 with a 22-21 road win at Northewestern's Ryan Field on Saturday afternoon. The Broncos win also marked the 11th consecutive year the MAC has defeated a Big Ten opponent, the longest streak in Conference history.

Western Michigan dominated the time of possession 39:04-to-20:56 and outgained Northwestern 416-319 in total yards of offense. The Broncos were led by senior quarterback Zach Terrell who threw for 218 yards and one touchdown on 26-of-36 passing. After falling behind 7-0 in the first quarter, Western Michigan went blow-for-blow with the Wildcats, and held on in the fourth quarter after pulling ahead for good with 5:38 remaining. Full Story...

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Bowling Green team took an early 7-0 lead but Ohio State rallied to defeat the Falcons 77-10 in front of 107,193 fans at Ohio Stadium to open the 2016 season.  Bowling Green received the opening kickoff and went three-and-out. After a Joe Davidson punt, Ohio State began their initial series on their own 42 yard line. Four plays later, the Falcons were on the board. Facing 2nd-and-5 at the BGSU 41, J.T. Barrett rolled left and threw into the flat, where Brandon Harris was occupying space. Harris grabbed the ball out of the air at the 37 and weaved his way 63 yards for a touchdown. It was the first pick-six for Bowling Green since Dernard Turner on Nov. 4, 2014. OSU had not allowed a pick-six since October 2014.

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- In its season opener, the Miami University football team impressed on offense, outgaining the 17th-ranked Iowa Hawkeyes with 424 yards in a 45-21 loss Saturday afternoon at Kinnick Stadium. The RedHawks (0-1) held possession for over 36 minutes and gained 25 first downs, but the Hawkeyes (1-0) scored three touchdowns off of Miami turnovers and converted on all six red zone opportunities.  Full Story...

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Kent State's Elcee Refuge's fumble return for a touchdown and a pair of Shane Hynes' field goals kept Kent State in the battle with Penn State for the better part of 60 minutes before the Golden Flashes finally fell 33-13 in Saturday's season opener at Beaver Stadium.  The Flashes and Nittany Lions were deadlocked at 13-13 with 8:02 to play in the first half after Refuge scooped a fumble forced by a Terrence Waugh sack and returned it 20 yards for a score. Full Story...

ATHENS, Ohio - Ohio (0-1, 0-0 MAC) suffers its first loss of the season to the Texas State Bobcats (1-0, 0-0 SUN BELT) in the first triple-overtime game in Ohio football history 56-54 on Saturday (Sept. 3). Ohio quarterback Greg Windham threw for 380 yards and four touchdowns, while Papi White had six receptions for 128 yards and one score.  Full Story...

AKRON, Ohio -- Akron junior quarterback Thomas Woodson threw for a career-high 407 yards on 23-of-32 passing and a career-best six touchdowns to help Akron to its first win of the season, defeating Virginia Military Institute, 47-24, Saturday evening at InfoCision Stadium – Summa Field. Junior wide receiver Jerome Lane accounted for a career-high 196 yards and two of Akron's touchdowns, while senior JoJo Natson tallied 90 yards for three touchdowns in his Zips' debut. LARAMIE, Wyo. - Northern Illinois University and the University of Wyoming capped off madcap first day of college football across the country with perhaps the craziest circumstances of all – from the 1:43 lightning delay at the beginning of the game to the triple overtime ending.  In the end, it was the Cowboys who scored last to claim a 40-34 triple victory over the Huskies at War Memorial Stadium.  Full Story...
