Western Michigan’s 34-10 win at Illinois marks the fourth time in Conference history for a MAC football program to earn two wins against Big Ten opponents in the same season.
-2016: Western Michigan 34-10 win at Illinois; 22-21 win at Northwestern
-2015: Bowling Green wins at Maryland and at Purdue
-2013: Northern Illinois wins at Iowa and at Purdue
-2003: Bowling Green win at Purdue and vs. Northwestern in the Motor City Bowl
MAC now with three teams to start the season with 3-0 records for the first time since 1988. This season Central Michigan, Toledo and Western Michigan are all off to 3-0 starts to begin the regular season. Back in 1988, Eastern Michigan started 3-0 while both Ball State and Western Michigan began with 5-0 starts.

HUNTINGTON, W.V. -- The Akron Zips out-scored the Marshall Thundering Herd 34-0 to end the first half en route to a 65-38 victory at Joan C. Edwards Stadium on Saturday. The 65 points are the second most scored by the Zips in program history. Akron (2-1 overall) scored on all sides of the ball, finishing with four passing, two rushing, two defensive, and one special teams touchdown while adding a field goal. Akron posted 26 first downs en route to 524 total yards of offense, including 379 yards in the air and 145 yards on the ground.

Middle Tennessee 41, Bowling Green 21

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- Bowling Green led through much of the first half but ultimately fell to Middle Tennessee, 41-21, on Saturday at Doyt Perry Stadium. Middle Tennessee scored three touchdowns in the span of 2:01 surrounding halftime, and inclement weather limited offensive production in the second half, as the Falcons failed to score in the final 30 minutes. Falcons running back Josh Cleveland rushed for 153 yards on 18 rushes and Fred Coppet added 117 yards on 27 carries. The Falcons ran for 304 yards on the ground in a driving rainpour.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The Ohio Bobcats (1-1, 0-0 MAC) fell 28-19 on Saturday to No. 15 Tennessee (3-0, SEC 0-0). The Bobcats were led by kicker Louie Zervos, who was 4-4 on field goals, and receiver Sebastian Smith, who led Ohio in receiving with nine catches for 156 yards.

TOLEDO, Ohio -- Toledo junior quarterback Logan Woodside threw for 239 yards and four touchdowns while senior running back Kareem Hunt rushed for 123 yards and one score to lead Toledo to a 52-17 victory over Fresno State at the Glass Bowl Saturday afternoon. The victory moves Toledo to 3-0, while Fresno State falls to 1-2. For the third time in three games, Toledo's defense dominated the game. Toledo held the Bulldogs to just 254 of total offense and 0-of-13 on third-down conversions. UT did not yield a first down until the 10-minute mark of the second quarter.

MT. PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) -- Central Michigan quarterback Cooper Rush threw six touchdown passes and Central Michigan pulled away in the second half to beat UNLV 44-21 on Saturday. The Chippewas (3-0) are off to their best start since 2002, and showed no signs of a letdown after stunning 22nd-ranked Oklahoma State last week. Rush was 20 of 33 for 352 yards, and his six scoring throws was a Kelly/Shorts Stadium record. Corey Willis had six receptions for 108 yards and two touchdowns, and Mark Chapman finished with five catches for 80 yards and two scores. Jesse Kroll and Brandon Childress also had touchdown catches.

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- Western Michigan improved its record to 3-0, defeating its second Big Ten team on the road this season with a 34-10 victory over Illinois Saturday. It marked the first time in school history and just the fourth time in Mid-American Conference history a MAC team has defeated two Big Ten teams in the same year. Western Michigan opened the season with a 22-21 win at Northwestern.
Western Michigan built an early 21-0 lead and never looked back, posting its largest victory over a Big Ten team ever. All four Bronco touchdowns in the game came on the ground, as Western Michigan racked up 287 yards rushing. The Bronco defense meanwhile stifled Illinois' running game, giving up just three yards net on ground offense. Sophomore running back Jamauri Bogan carried the ball 24 times for 189 yards and scored WMU's first two touchdowns.

MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Ball State front seven spent so much time in the Eastern Kentucky backfield Saturday, they almost started receiving their mail there. The Cardinals completely negated Eastern Kentucky’s rushing attack and hounded Colonel quarterback Maty Mauk all day en route to a 41-14 victory at Scheumann Stadium. It was a shut out for more than 56 minutes before Ball State surrendered a pair of late scores.

KENT, Ohio -- Kent State quarterback Mylik Mitchell connected with Nick Holley on a pair of touchdown passes, Myles Washington reached the end zone for his first career score, and Shane Hynesbooted a pair of field goals as Kent State notched its first win of 2016 with a 27-7 victory over Monmouth on Saturday at Dix Stadium. For the second week in a row, the Flashes' defense pitched a shutout heading into halftime. The two Mitchell-to-Holley scores helped Kent State build on the the 13-0 advantage after the break.

DeKALB, Ill. -- Sophomore quarterback Ryan Graham threw for three second half touchdowns but the Northern Illinois University Huskies (0-3) were unable to erase a 21-point halftime deficit as they fell, 42-28, to San Diego State (3-0) on Saturday afternoon at Huskie Stadium. Graham finished the afternoon 18-of-36 passing for 221 yards.

OXFORD, Ohio -- Despite a pair of miraculous touchdown catches and three forced turnovers, the Miami University football team came up short on Homecoming, falling 31-24 to Western Kentucky University on Saturday afternoon at Yager Stadium. The RedHawks (0-3) outgained the Hilltoppers with 424 yards of total offense and held possession for over 35 minutes. Sophomore quarterback Billy Bahl went 20-of-41 with a career-high 339 yards and two touchdown passes. Sophomore wide receiver James Gardner continued his terrific start to the season with five catches for 136 yards and a touchdown.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Eastern Michigan used an aerial assault and three turnovers to upend the University of North Carolina-Charlotte, 37-19, Saturday, Sept. 17, in non-conference action under the lights at Jerry Richardson Stadium. Both sides of the ball got the job done for the Eagles (2-1), as the offense sprung for 357 yards, including 285 through the air. Redshirt junior Todd Porter led the attack, finishing with his second consecutive 250+ passing yard day and all of Eastern Michigan's 285 yards through the air on 24-31 passing and two touchdowns.

RENO, Nev. -- The University at Buffalo had difficulty slowing a high-powered Nevada offense and lost to the Wolf Pack, 38-14, at Mackay Stadium on Saturday night. The Bulls were able to effectively move the ball on the ground, rushing for a season-best 231 yards. However, Nevada gained 352 yards on the ground and controlled the line of scrimmage.
