Ball State Field Hockey Takes Down Colgate

EVANSTON, Ill. – The Ball State field hockey team finished its weekend road trip with a 2-0 victory over Colgate Saturday afternoon.
 
After a tough loss Friday to Northwestern, the Cardinals (4-2) came out ready to play against the Raiders (1-5).
 
Junior midfielder Carley Shannon scored her first goal of the season on a rebound shot off the goalie in the 29th minute.
 
Last year’s leading scorer, senior forward Lexi Kavanaugh, scored her second goal of the season on a reverse stick from the top of the circle late in the first half to extend the lead 2-0.
Goalkeeper Jordan Dues earned her first shutout of the year with six saves.
 
The Cardinals will return to action next weekend as they travel to Iowa City, Iowa. The Cards will take on Penn State on Saturday, Sept. 17 in a neutral site game at 11 a.m. The Cards will then face Iowa on Sunday, Sept. 18 starting at 2 p.m.
