Final Results

YPSILANTI, MI - Eastern Michigan kept momentum through four days of competition to repeat as Mid-American Conference Champions. The Eagles collected 846 points, securing their 33rd conference title. Buffalo finished in second with 649. Missouri State tallied 634 to finish third. Southern Illinois (528), Miami (449), Ball State (147), and Evansville (142) rounded out the final team standings, respectively.

The evening started off with three rounds of the 1650 Freestyle. Missouri State went 1-2 with Miguel Davila defending his title, tapping in at 15:16.07 and his teammate, Minki Kang hitting 15:18.41. Buffalo's Charles Barry would pick up third with a time of 15:21.21.

It was an Eastern Michigan swept in the 200 Backstroke. Junior Cole Bateman hit the wall first with a time of 1:44.51. Senior Erik Gissen took second in 1:45.41 and freshman Tosh Kawaguchi claimed third with 1:45. 82. All three Eagles met the NCAA B Cut consideration time.

Eastern Michigan's Andrew Henry cleared the record book in the 100 Freestyle, while picking up his second individual title of the week. The EMU senior also picked up considerations for the NCAA B Cut with a time of 43.34 and also earned the title as Most Outstanding Swimmer.

Another pool record would fall in the 200 Breaststroke to Missouri State's Artur Osvath. The freshman claimed the title with a time of 1:55.04, qualifing him for NCAA B Cut. Buffalo's Scott Huang took second with 1:57.29 and third went to Missouri State's Christopher Heye with 1:57.56.

In the 200 Butterfly, Southern Illinois' Filippo Dell'Olio claimed the title with a time of 1:46.54. Eastern Michigan's Logan Burton (1:46.73) claimed second and SIU's Lucas Aquino picked up third (1:47.04).

EMU's Alex Chan secured his third-straight MAC title in the 3-meter dive with 422.75 points. The junior also set a meet and pool record, while also qualifying for NCAA A Cut qualification.

The final event of the meet went to Eastern Michigan's 400 Free Relay team of Andrew Henry, Erik Gissen, Logan Burton, and Jake Tyson. The quad hit the wall in 2:55.23, setting a pool, conference, meet, and school record. Southern Illinois tapped in second at 2:56.99 and Buffalo finished third with 2:57.39.

Throughout the championship, 40 MAC student-athletes produced 75 cut times for NCAA consideration. A release is set for March 9th, with the championships following March 23-26 at Georgia Tech.
