Trenton Lewis Perry, Men’s Basketball, Eastern Michigan University, Junior

When is your birthday?
October 30th, 1994

What is your favorite color?
Blue or Green… Depends on the day

What are you majoring in? What is your GPA?
Business Marketing with a 3.2

How many hours a week do you spend studying? Practicing/Training? And how do you manage your time?
I’d estimate I spend about 3-4 hours a week studying, and about 14-16 hours a week training. I manage my time by planning my day out strictly right when I wake up. If I’m on pace with what I’ve planned, things go very smoothly; if not, then I make a few audibles and keep it moving!

What are your future plans after graduating?  What do you want to be when you grow up?
I plan on playing basketball for as long as I can. I believe by the time I’m done with my collegiate career, my skill level will be ready to be showcased professionally, whether that is in the NBA or overseas. After that I would like to become a high school coach to start out, then continue to work my way up as a skill developmental coach, perhaps even becoming an NBA Scout. After all that, I would love to be a sports broadcaster on NBA on TNT or something along those lines.

What does leadership mean to you?
Leadership means that you’re willing to do what is necessary to make sure everyone is on the same page and doing the right things. It means to point your peers in the right direction if they’re starting to go in the wrong one. It also means to be a great role model to those around you.

How has being a MAC Leader & a part of SAAC effected your student-athlete career?
It has given me a sense of responsibility and discipline. Becoming a MAC Leader has made me feel like I have a certain duty to be the best role model I can be, not only to my teammates, but to the people around me that see me in class or on campus.

What is your favorite college memory?
The night we beat the University of Michigan, 45-42.

About myself: I just want to give "thank yous" to those that if not for them I would most likely not be in this position. I thank God every day for blessing me with the opportunities I have been given and the people he’s led me to. First, my family and biggest support staff, Lowell and Kathi Perry(my parents) and Trey Perry and Tucker Wright (my brother and sister). They’ve believed in me all my life even when I didn’t. There was a time where I believed I wouldn’t play college basketball, but they gave me strength to make it. Second, my trainers from All-Around Game, Spencer and Jamal Richardson, along with my strength coach Scott Reall; they gave me an identity to my game. They taught me the in’s and out’s of the game and most of all gave me confidence in myself that I never thought I had. Third my brother-in-law/mentor, Brandan Wright of the Memphis Grizzlies. He’s been an outstanding mentor to me since I was in High School and am truly blessed to have met him. He’s taught me how to be a true professional. Lastly, my Uncle Scott, who got me my first workout here at Eastern Michigan. If it wasn’t for him, I definitely would not be a 3rd year captain on this great program! Love you all, Thank you!!
