Akron Falls To West Virginia, 5-2
AKRON, Ohio — The University of Akron women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to West Virginia on Sunday afternoon at the LaTuchie Tennis Center. Akron (4-1) was swept in doubles action while claiming two victories in singles play. Sophomore Ariadna Blinova (Riga, Latvia) battled West Virginia's Hailey Barrett to a 3-6, 7-5, 1-0 (4) win in No. 1 singles. At No. 6 singles, freshman Luisa Echeverryclaimed a 6-2, 6-2 triumph against Yvon Martinez.

Zips Defeat Wright State, 6-1
DAYTON, Ohio — The University of Akron women's tennis team posted a 6-1 victory over Wright State on Friday night at the South Regency Tennis Center. Akron's (4-0) No. 1 doubles team of Karalina Maksimava (Mogilev, Belarus) and Shannon Newnes (Romford, London) earned a 6-4 win over WSU's Taylor Culbertson and Tori Turner.

Ball State:
Cardinals Sweep Detroit and Valparaiso
MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State women's tennis team defeated Detroit Mery and Valparaiso, 6-1, at the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center Saturday. The Cardinals improved to 3-1 on the season, while the Titans fell to 0-3 and the Crusaders slipped to 1-3. The Cardinals captured the doubles point in both matches today and then went on to dominate singles play dropping only two matches total against both opponents.

Bowling Green:
Wright State Tops Falcons, 5-2
Perrysburg, Ohio – Freshmen Paula Comella Aguilo and Polina Radeva picked up singles wins on Sunday afternoon, but the Bowling Green State University tennis team fell 5-2 to visiting Wright State University. At No.1 doubles, senior Drew Fillis and Aguilo clinched their second victory of the weekend against Taylor Culbertson and Tori Turner. Fillis and Aguilo never gave the Raiders a chance, winning the match 6-0. The two improved their record to 4-1.

Falcons Fall To UIC, 4-3
Perrysburg, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University tennis team saw success against Illinois-Chicago, but after the Flames were extinguished in doubles play they rallied back in singles to win the match 4-3 Saturday. The non-conference dual was held at the Perrysburg Tennis Center. The Falcons opened the match by winning two out of three doubles matches to earn the first point of the afternoon.

Buffalo:
Bulls Down Dukes, 4-3
WILLIAMSVILLE, NY - The University at Buffalo, The State University of New York women's tennis team earned a hard-fought 4-3 win over Duquesne on Friday at the Miller Tennis Center. The Bulls remain undefeated in dual action, while the loss was the first this season for Duquesne. Facing a tough Dukes team in doubles, UB was able to come away with the ever important doubles point to take the early lead in the match. The Bulls struck first as sophomore Tanja Stojanovska and freshman Chantal Martinez Blanco came away with a 6-2 win at second doubles. After Duquesne won at one, the Bulls got a huge victory at third doubles as junior Laura Holterbosch and sophomore Christine Haraldson overcame a 4-3 deficit and won the final three games to take the match, 6-4, and clinch the point.

Women's Tennis Drops Another 6-1 Decision
IOWA CITY, Iowa - Eastern Michigan University's tennis team competed for the second-straight day as the Eagles (2-5) were knocked off by Marquette University in Iowa City, Iowa. The Golden Eagles took down EMU, 6-1, after winning the doubles point, they took 5-of-6 singles contests.

Eagles Fall At Iowa, 6-1
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The Eastern Michigan University tennis team traveled west to the University of Iowa Friday, Feb. 5, to square off with the Hawkeyes (2-0). The Eagles (2-4) fell, 6-1, in their four match against a Big Ten Conference opponent Friday afternoon. The match started in doubles play as the Green and White fell in the first two matches of the dual. At No. 1 doubles, Iowa's Anastasia Reimchen and Zoe Douglas knocked off Andrea Martinovska, 6-3, while Ani Gogvadze and Marie Mayerova fell, 6-4, in the No. 2 doubles spot. Despite being tied with Elizabeth Thoms and Adorable Huckleby at No. 3, Renu Sharma and Anna Veleva's match went unifinisehd after the doubles point was settled and the Hawkeyes took a 1-0 lead.

RedHawks Drop Home Opener To Xavier
HAMILTON, Ohio -- In a disappointing home opener, Miami University's women's tennis team fell 6-1 to Xavier University on Saturday afternoon at the Riverside Athletic Club. Despite competitive singles efforts, the RedHawks (1-3) were unable to overcome a doubles sweep and outstanding play by the Musketeers' (4-2) top players.

Women's Tennis Falls To Cincinnati, 4-3
CINCINNATI, Ohio -- Despite taking the doubles point and owning a late 3-2 lead, Miami University's women's tennis team was unable to hold off the charging Cincinnati Bearcats in a 4-3 loss Friday evening at the Western Tennis & Fitness Club. The RedHawks (1-2) opened play with a strong showing in the doubles portion, taking two matches to earn the initial point. In third-flight, senior Ana Rajkovic and junior Andreea Badileanu topped Katya Bure and Antonella Bramato, 6-1. This was followed by a 6-4 second-flight victory for sophomore Hannah Shteyn and freshman Anzhelika Shapovalova. The remaining first-flight match featuring sophomores Nelli Ponomareva and Anastasiia Vasiukhinawas suspended with the score tied at 5.

Huskies Edged By Cleveland State, 4-3
ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Northern Illinois University women’s tennis team was narrowly beaten by Cleveland State, 4-3, on Saturday at the Boylan Tennis Center in Rockford, Ill. The Huskies (2-3) earned three singles victories but were edged out by the Vikings (1-3) for the doubles point at the beginning of the match, which ultimately proved decisive for both teams.

Rockets Fall To UIC, 5-2
TOLEDO, OH - Women's tennis split their first pair of home matches this weekend. The Rockets fell to Illinois - Chicago, 5-2, on Sunday after defeating Youngstown State, 4-3, on Saturday. With the loss, UT drops to 2-4 on the season, while the Flames improve to 2-1. UIC clinched the doubles point, winning two of the three matches. The sole Rockets victory came from Rani Goodland and Mackenzie Bowman at No. 2 doubles. They defeated Ann-Sophie Hahn and Melika LeBlanc, 6-4.

TOLEDO, OH – Toledo women's tennis defeated Youngstown State, 4-3, in their first home match of the season. The Rockets improve to 2-4 on the season, while YSU drops to 0-5. UT defeated the Penguins in two quick doubles matches, which caused the third to go unfinished.

Women's Tennis Splits Matches With Indiana and Morehead State
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The Western Michigan women's tennis team split a pair of matches against Indiana and Morehead State on IU's campus Saturday. First, the Broncos fell to the No. 55 ranked Hoosiers 5-2 then picked up a quick 4-0 win over Morehead State later in the day.
