MAC Names Week 12 Football Players of the Week

East Division
Offensive Player of the Week: Bowling Green OL Tim McAuliffe
Bowling Green junior center Tim McAuliffe (Lemont, Ill.) led the offensive line as it paved the way for a rushing attack that dominated Kent State in a 42-7 victory. Bowling Green rushed for 420 yards, the most for the program in 18 years and had three running backs top 100 yards on the ground for the first time since 1978. Bowling Green had not topped 400 yards rushing since totaling 424 against Kent State on Oct. 24, 1998. The offensive line also did not give up a quarterback sack in the contest. Donovan Wilson carried 30 times for 146 yards and two scores, while Josh Cleveland had eight rushes for 131 yards, including an 85-yard touchdown jaunt. Fred Coppet had 19 rushes for 105 yards and a touchdown as well. In total, Bowling Green rushed the ball 66 times.
Defensive Player of the Week: Ohio LB Quentin Poling
Ohio junior linebacker Quentin Poling (Gomer, Ohio) led with eight tackles including seven solo stops in their 27-20 loss at Central Michigan last week. Poling also had two tackles for loss, a quarterback hurry and anchored an Ohio defense which allowed just 18-rushing yards to Central Michigan, a season low for the Chippewas. Poling ranks second on the Bobcats defense with 86 tackles this season, including a team-high 55 solo tackles, and 10.5 tackles for loss.
Special Teams Player of the Week: Kent State P Derek Adams
Kent State freshman punter Derek Adams (Manheim, Pa.) placed four punts inside the 20-yard line, but still managed to average 42.3 yards per punt in a loss at Bowling Green on Nov. 15.
West Division
Offensive Player of the Week: Western Michigan QB Zach Terrell
Western Michigan senior quarterback Zach Terrell (Fort Wayne, Ind.) threw for a personal record 445 yards in a 38-0 win over Buffalo on Saturday. Terrell added four touchdowns on the day to give him a 27-1 touchdown to interception ratio this season. Terrell’s 445 yards are the fifth most in a single game in Bronco history. He broke the Western Michigan career passing yard mark in the process with 11,461. Along with owning the all-time mark in Bronco history, his 11,461 yards are also fifth most all-time in MAC history. Terrell’s four touchdowns gave him 90 for his career, second most at Western Michigan and fifth most in MAC history.
Defensive Player of the Week: Central Michigan DL Joe Ostman
Central Michigan junior defensive lineman Joe Ostman (St. Ignace, Mich.) had eight tackles, including two sacks and three tackles for a loss of yards in a 27-20 win over Ohio on Tuesday, Nov. 15. His second sack came late in the fourth quarter and set back Ohio’s final drive.
Special Teams Player of the Week: Toledo PR Corey Jones
Toledo senior punt returner Corey Jones (Pittsburgh, Pa.) returned a punt 63 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter to give Toledo a 14-0 lead in a 37-19 win over Ball State. He also returned two kickoffs for 35 yards, and added four receptions for 63 yards. He has now caught a pass in 36 straight games.
