Kent, Ohio – For the second consecutive season, Eastern Michigan has clamined the Women’s Cross Country Championship title. Last year marked the first time the Eagles had ever taken home the trophy.
Eastern Michigan's
Jordann McDermitt took home the individual title, posting a time of 20:34.1. Bowling Green's
Rachel Walny crossed the finish line to take second place in a time of 20:48.0, while Eastern Michigan's
Alsu Bogdanova followed up last year's individual title with a third place finish in a time of 20:59.3.
The Eagles had two other top-ten finishers in sophomore Natalie Cizmas (fourth, 21:10.5) and sophomore Sydney Meyers (seventh, 21:11.7) helping the team secure first place with 45 points. Northern Illinois finished second with 78 points, while Bowling Green (116), Central Michgian (126) & Toledo (127) rounded out the top-five.
Following the race, league head coaches selected Eastern Michigan’s
Sue Parks as MAC Coach of the Year. This is the third time Coach Parks has received this honor (2003 - Ball State, 2015 - EMU).
Teams will have about two weeks to prepare for NCAA Regionals, which take place on November 11th.
