Recap

KENT, Ohio - The Eastern Michigan Men’s Cross Country team captured their seventh consecutive Mid-American Conference Championship title in record fashion on Saturday. The Eagles took home the MAC title with a conference record 15 points. EMU dominated the race from start to finish, holding onto the top-five spots for a vast majority of the event and sweeping the podium.

The previous record for fewest points in a field of nine teams was 23, which was achieved by the Eagles in 2006 and 2014. This marked an improvement of eight points, as the team took home the top-five spots. As the race features five scored runners, the team simply could not have done any better when it comes to placing, and posted the conference's best point total in conference meet history.

EMU’s Nick Raymond secured the 2016 men’s individual title for the second straight season with a finishing time of 25:10.0.

Eastern Michigan’s John Goodridge was voted MAC Men’s Coach of the Year. This was the 11th time Coach Goodridge was selected by the league’s head coaches to receive this honor. He also holds the record in the conference as winningest head coach with 12 championships to his name.

The teams have about two weeks to prepare for the next race, the 2016 NCAA Regionals on November 11th.
