MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State field hockey team fell to the Ohio Bobcats for the second time this season in a tough 2-1 loss Thursday afternoon.
 
The Bobcats (6-7, 3-0 MAC) scored first off a penalty corner in the sixth minute. When the clock struck zeros at the end of the first half, the teams made their way to their respective locker rooms. Kendall Ballard connected on the penalty shot, marking her 12th goal of the season.
The Cardinals (6-8, 1-2 MAC) maintained possession of the ball for a large part of the game. Ball State had 15 total shots on the day, five of which were shots on goal. Ohio only had two shots on goal. Ball State had eight penalty corners compared to Ohio’s three.
 
Junior Carley Shannon was the lone Cardinal to score with a tough diving shot in the 54th minute. The score was Shannon’s second of the season. Senior midfielder Mikayla Mooney had four shot attempts on the day. Sophomore Darbi Gullett and redshirt junior Merinda Morley both had three shots.
 
The Cardinals will return to action on Sunday, Oct. 16 against La Salle for their ‘Think Pink’ game. Game time is set at 11 a.m. The first 200 fans will receive a pink stadium cup to celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
