Zips Finish Final Day At Vartabedian Invite
PITTSBURGH, Pa. — The University of Akron women's tennis team completed the final day of action at the Nishan Vartabedian Spring Invitational on Sunday against the hosting Pitt Panthers at the Alpha Tennis Center. The Zips dropped six singles matches, but were competitive throughout.

Women’s Tennis Completes Day Two At Vartabedian Spring Invite
PITTSBURGH, Pa. — The University of Akron women's tennis team continued the second day of action at the Nishan Vartabedian Spring Invitational, seizing two victories over #52 Marshall at the University of Pittsburgh's Alpha Tennis and Fitness Center on Saturday. In doubles action, senior Martina Zerbola (Neuquen, Argentina) and freshman Luisa Echeverry (Cali, Columbia) captured a 6-2 triumph over Marshall's Marija Bogicevic and Anne Gulsrud.

Women’s Tennis Opens Season At Nishan Vartabedian Spring Invite
PITTSBURGH, Pa. — The University of Akron women's tennis team opened the spring portion of its schedule winning three doubles matches and claiming two singles wins against top MAC contender Miami (OH) on Friday in the Nishan Vartabedian Spring Invitational at the University of Pittsburgh.

Ball State:
Cardinals Open With Loss At Purdue
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Ball State women's tennis team dropped its opening match of the 2016 season, 5-2, against No. 44 Purdue Saturday afternoon at Basham Courts. In doubles action, the No. 3 twosome of Isabelle Dohanics and Audrey Berger fell first by a score of 6-3 to Purdue's doubles tandem, Claudia Escribens and Natalie Davila. With the doubles point on the line, Peyton Gollhofer paired up with Toni Ormond on court two to face the Boilermakers Andjela Djokovic and Marta Ruedas-Burgos. Gollhofer and Ormond dropped their match 6-3 to give Purdue the early 1-0 edge heading into singles play. At No. 1 doubles, the match between Bethany Moore and Carmen Blanco went unfinished but the score was tied 4-4.

Bowling Green Defeats Titans, 5-2
Detroit, Mich. – The Bowling Green State University women's tennis team earned a 5-2 win over the University of Detroit Sunday evening, picking up the team's first win of the 2016 season and giving head coach Olga Elkinher first win as head coach of the Falcons. Bowling Green earned four points from singles, getting victories from freshmen Polina Radeva, Paula Comella Aguilo and Marina Ferrero, as well as from sophomore Emily Witt.

Falcons Fall To No. 18 Ohio State
Columbus, Ohio – Bowling Green State University women's tennis team fell to No. 18 Ohio State Saturday, 7-0 at the OSU Varsity Tennis Center. In singles, the Buckeyes captured each of the six matches. In #1 singles, freshman Polina Radeva would prove to be great competition against Ohio State's Gabriella De Santis. Radeva won the first set 6-2, Santis rallied back to win the second set 6-4 but Radeva lost the third set tie-breaker, 1-0 (10-8).

Women's Tennis Falls At Purdue, 5-2
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Following its first contest of the 2016 championship season at Michigan State University, the Eastern Michigan University tennis team traveled to Purdue University Sunday, Jan. 17, to square off with the No. 44-ranked Boilermakers. Despite winning the doubles point, the Eagles (0-2) dropped 5-of-6 singles matches in the 5-2 defeat.

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Eastern Michigan University's tennis team began the spring championship season Saturday, Jan. 16, when it traveled north to No. 69-ranked Michigan State University to square off with the Spartans. The Eagles (0-1) dropped a 5-2 decision at the hands of MSU.

Women's Tennis Continues Action At Pitt Spring Invitational
PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Miami University’s women’s tennis team continued competition at the Nishan Vartabedian Spring Invitational with a match against the hosting Pitt Panthers Saturday afternoon at the University of Pittsburgh’s Alpha Tennis Center. The RedHawks only came away with one singles victory on the day, but were competitive in other matches. In doubles, the pair of sophomore Hannah Shteyn and freshman Anzhelika Shapovalova lost in a tiebreaker for the second consecutive day, falling 7-6 to Audrey Ann Blakely and Gabriela Rezende.

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Miami University’s women’s tennis team overcame a tough doubles outing to post a solid return to the court following a three-month absence, grabbing five victories against the University of Akron Friday afternoon in the opening day of action at the Nishan Vartabedian Spring Invitational at the University of Pittsburgh’s Alpha Tennis Club. In the doubles portion, all three Miami pairs fell, though the pair of sophomore Hannah Shteyn and freshman Anzhelika Shapovalova took their match to a tiebreaker.

Huskies Ace First Win By Beating North Dakota
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Northern Illinois University women’s tennis team earned its first victory of the season on Monday morning, convincingly beating North Dakota in nonconference action by a 6-1 scoreline in Minneapolis, Minn. The Huskies (1-1) won five of the six singles matches and added the doubles point to down North Dakota (0-2) as the two teams squared off on the courts of Minnesota’s Baseline Tennis Center. Adey Osabuohien (Hazel Crest, Ill./Stony Brook) and Cristina Alvarez (Zaragoza, Spain/Cristorey and Sagrado Corazon de Jesus) led the way for the Huskies, winning the top two singles matches in straight sets and combining to win their No. 1 doubles match as well.

NIU Falls To Minnesota In Season Opener
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Northern Illinois University women’s tennis team opened its 2016 spring season with a defeat at Minnesota on Sunday, falling to the No. 60 nationally ranked Big Ten program 7-0 on the road in Minneapolis. Of the nine total contests between the two teams, six in singles and three in doubles that resulted in the other team point, the Huskies (0-1) came closest to defeating the Golden Gophers (1-0) in the No. 1 singles match as Adey Osabuohien (Hazel Crest, Ill./Stony Brook) won the first set against Minnesota top player Caroline Ryba before eventually falling in the tiebreaker after the second set.

Rockets Fall To Michigan State In East Lansing
East Lansing, MI – Toledo women's tennis dropped a 7-0 decision to Big Ten's Michigan State on Saturday in East Lansing. MSU ranks No. 69 in the country and improves to a 2-0 mark on the season. The Rockets drop to a record of 0-1. Senior Emily Mazzola and sophomore Sidnay Huck paired up in No. 1 doubles to post a 6-1 triumph over the Spartan's Athena Touillot and Davina Nguyen.

Women's Tennis Falls at No. 33 Notre Dame
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Western Michigan women's tennis team suffered it's first loss of the season at the hands of No. 33 Notre Dame Tuesday night at the road. The Fighting Irish won 7-0, improving to 1-0 this season while the Broncos fell to 2-1 in the early parts of the fall. Sophomore Olivia Myers fell to No. 53 Quinn Gleason at the No. 1 singles spot while freshman Melina Lyubomirova lost a hard fought battle in the No. 2 spot 6-2, 5-7, 10-5 to Monica Robinson. In doubles, junior Tracy Kuhle and Lyubomirova had the hard task of facing No. 32 Gleason/Robinson in the No. 1 slot and the Fighting Irish were victorious 6-0.

Women's Tennis Opens up Spring Season with Pair of Victories over Oakland and Valpo
KALAMAZOO, Mich.- The Western Michigan women's tennis team opened the spring season with a pair of victories Saturday afternoon at West Hills Athletic Club. The Broncos topped Oakland 6-1 to start the day and then beat Valparaiso 7-0 later in the day. Western Michigan improved to 2-0 on the young season while both Oakland and Valpo drop to 0-1. First year head coach Ryan Tomlinson earned his first collegiete dual victory over the Golden Grizzlies.
