Eastern Michigan Eagles Claim Back-To-Back MAC Titles

MUNCIE, Ind.-- Eastern Michigan claimed its 23rd outdoor title at the 2015 Mid-American Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships Saturday at Ball State University. The Eagles finished with 205 points, Akron finished second with 188 points, and in third, Kent State with 143 points. Following was Buffalo (110), Central Michigan (83.5), and Miami (77).
Eastern Michigan's Donald Scott started off the final day of the MAC Championship winning the triple jump for the second straight year. Scott jumped a MAC Championship record of 16.24m to win the title while Akron's Michael Ohiembor finished second with a spot of 15.46m. Buffalo’s Austin Price placed third with a jump of 15.16m.
Akron’s Shawn Barber won his third straight outdoor track & field pole vault title clearing a MAC Championship height of 5.65m.
Kent State’s Roosevelt Dotson placed first in the high jump clearing a height of 2.12m while Central Michigan’s Cole Walderzak won the men's discus title with a throw of 56.82m.
In the men's 4x100 meter relay, Eastern Michigan's team of Snead, Bolton, Williams and Delgado claimed first with a time of 39.95. Buffalo took second with a time of 40.10 and Kent State third with a time of 40.12.
In the 1500 meter run, Akron's Clayton Murphy took home the gold for the second consecutive year with a time of 3:46.77 while his teammate Daniel Zupan placed second with a time of 3:47.
Kent State's William Barnes reclaimed the 110 meter hurdles title with a MAC Championship record time of 13.60. Miami’s Sam Chester, placed second with a time of 14.13 while Eastern Michigan's Bryce Lindsey took third with a time of 14.28.
In the 400 meter dash, Eastern Michigan's Tyler Brown defended his title with a time of 46.19 while Akron's Brent Gray took second with a time of 46.91. Kent State's Miles Dunlap placed third with a time of 47.32.
Kent State's Wayne Gordon claimed his third consecutive 100 meter dash title with a time of 10.39 while Buffalo’s Ryan Billian placed second with a time of 10.49.
Akron’s Clayton Murphy won the 800 meter run with a time of 1:50.51 and in the men’s 5,000 meter run, EMU’s Willy Fink took first with a time of 14:13.91.
Wayne Gordon won his second event of the day and his third consecutive 200 meter dash title with a time of 20.96.
Kent State’s Miles Dunlap claimed the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 52.15. Central Michigan’s Ziemowit Dutkiewicz placed second with a time of 52.35 while Kent State’s Danny Young placed third with a time of 52.74.
Central Michigan finished off the meet with a win in the 4x400 meter relay. The team of Malik Vasquez, Clay Holman, Erick Huertas and Ziemowit Dutkiewicz finished with a time of 3:09.29.
