Missouri Wins Third Consecutive MAC Wrestling Championship

Columbia, Mo. -- The Missouri Tigers won their third consecutive MAC Wrestling Championships in dominating fashion with 139.5 points and five individual champions. Old Dominion ranked second with 97.5 team points, while Ohio finished third with 85.5 points. Only three points separated fourth-place Kent State (75.5 points), fifth-place Central Michigan (74.5 points) and sixth-place Northern Iowa (72.5 points). Northern Illinois and Eastern Michigan rounded out the team scoring.
Missouri had five wrestlers crowned as MAC Champions as Alan Waters (125), Zach Synon (133), Drake Houdashelt (149), J'Den Cox (197) and Devin Mellon (HWT) all won their respective weight classes. Missouri also had two wrestlers finish second as Joey LaVallee (157) and Johnny Eblen (174) both lost in the Championship Finals.
Second-place Old Dominion had No. 2 seed Jack Dechow win the 184 weight class with a 6-4 victory over Missouri's Willie Miklus. Third-place Ohio witnessed No. 2 seed Cody Walters win the 174 weight class with a 6-4 win over Missouri's Johnny Eblen.
Kent State's Ian Miller won the 157 weight class with a 4-2 decision over Missouri's LaVallee. Central Michigan's Zach Horan won the 141 weight class with a 5-3 decision over Old Dominion's Chris Mecate, while Northern Iowa's Cooper Moore won the 165 weight class as the No. 2 seed with a 7-1 win over No. 1 seed Tristan Warner of Old Dominion.
