CLEVELAND, OHIO -- CLEVELAND -- Kiyanna Black scored 25 and Ohio ended Eastern Michigan's touching tournament run, inspired by the tragic death of one of its players, to win the Mid-American Conference Tournament championship 60-44 on Saturday.
The top-seeded Bobcats (27-4) earned their third conference title and NCAA Tournament bid -- the school's first since 1995. Ohio went just 9-21 last season.
Black made four 3-pointers in a three-minute span in the second half, helping Ohio open a 10-point lead.
The Eagles (22-12) were playing their fifth game in six days and in honor of junior Shannise Heady, killed in a car accident on Jan. 25, just hours after a win at Toledo.
Cha Sweeney scored 24 for Eastern Michigan, which has kept an empty seat on the bench for Heady.
