FOXBOROUGH, Mass.— Akron scored 10 second-half points and played tenacious defense en route to a 17-13 win over UMass in MAC play at Gillette on Saturday afternoon.  Akron improved to 4-5 overall (2-3 MAC), while the Minutemen fell to 1-8 overall (0-5 MAC).

Sophomore QB Thomas Woodson was 15-of-27 for 174 yards and a touchdown while rushing for 58 yards. Senior RB Conor Hundley led all rushers with 92 yards on 23 carries, while sophomore WR Jerome Lane was the top receiver with 56 yards on four receptions.

Defensively, senior LB Dylan Evans and Jatavis Brown led the Zips with 11 tackles each. Brown also had an eight-yard sack and 1.5 TFL.

OXFORD, Ohio -- On a day where the RedHawks produced several impressive offensive plays, it was the Miami defense who came away with a record effort as the RedHawk football team defeated Eastern Michigan (1-9; 0-6 MAC) on Saturday afternoon at Yager Stadium, 28-13. Capturing its first MAC win of the season, the RedHawks improve to 2-8 overall and 1-5 in conference play.

Spearheaded by junior defensive end JT Jones’ Miami single-game record 4.0 sacks, the RedHawk defense had a banner day with their single-game sacks record of 9.0. Jones’ MU record ties for seventh in MAC history. Senior defensive end Bryson Albright also amassed 3.0 sacks, which ties his career high and also ties 13 others for second on Miami’s single-game list.

As a unit, the MU defense racked up 72 yards in sacks and amassed 15 tackles for loss that totaled 86 yards.
