KALAMAZOO, Mich.— Western Michigan broke the school record for total offense and became bowl eligible for the second straight season with a 54-7 win over visiting Ball State Thursday evening. The Broncos are one of two undefeated teams in MAC play, leading the West Division with a 5-0 league record.

Bowling Green also has a 5-0 record out of the MAC East, setting up a showdown between the two divisional leaders next Wednesday, Nov. 11 in Kalamazoo. The game is Western Michigan’s final home game of the season and will be televised on ESPN2. It is set for an 8 p.m. kickoff from Waldo Stadium.

Western Michigan’s offense was nearly unstoppable against Ball State, racking up a school-record 711 yards of total offense, a mark which also ranks seventh most in the history of the MAC. The Broncos scored on the third play of the game on a 65-yard catch and run up the right sideline by junior Corey Davisfrom quarterback Zach Terrell. Western Michigan went on to build a 30-0 lead by halftime.

Buffalo 18, Kent State 17

KENT, Ohio — Buffalo quarterback Joe Licata hit tight end Matt Weiser for an 8-yard touchdown pass with 58 seconds left to cap a miraculous comeback and give the University at Buffalo, the State University of New York football team an 18-17 win over Kent State at Dix Stadium on Thursday night. The Bulls erased an 11-point fourth-quarter deficit to earn their third straight win. Buffalo is now 5-4 overall and 3-2 in the Mid-American Conference.  

Licata finished 25-for-39 for 190 yards and two touchdowns in the game.  Running backs Jordan Johnson and Anthone Taylor had similar games as Johnson rushed for 60 yards on 14 carries and Taylor had 64 yards on 16 carries. Johnson scored a rushing touchdown for the third straight game.  Weiser had six catches for 50 yards and the game-winning touchdown. Four of his six catches came on the game-winning drive.
