What You Need To Know:
Picked to finish third in the MAC East this season, the Bowling Green Falcons will look to get back to the MAC Tournament as they bring back four starters from last year's team along with stellar 5th-year senior Erica Donovan who's season was cut short after only eight games in 2014-15.
Injuries plagued the Falcons last season and the team hopes that improved depth and fresh new faces in the mix will help keep the team healthy for a long run to the conference tournament in Cleveland. BGSU added three freshmen and a pair of transfers that will look to make an impact early in the season.
Donovan was the lone Falcon to be named to the Preseason All-MAC East team. Before last year's season ending injury, the San Antonio, Texas native averaged 15.3 points and 9.1 boards per contest. She will be the main focus of the Bowling Green offense while senior Miriam Justinger will be another key offensive weapon. The Academic All-MAC selection took on a bigger role after Donovan fell last season and was able to post per game averages of 10.3 points and 5.3 rebounds. Sophomore Rachel Myers and her sharpshooting will also be import for the Falcon attack. Myers ranked 13th in the conference in both three-point field goals made per game (1.5) and three-point percentage (.352).
Sleeper Impact Player:
Lauren Tibbs / Sr. / Center - The graduate transfer comes to the Falcons after earning her undergraduate degree at Marquette University. While with the Golden Eagles, Tibbs played in 93 total games, including 13 starts. Last season, she averaged 3.8 points on 50.5% shooting from the field to go along with 3.5 rebounds in 12.8 minutes of action
Key Nonconference Matchups:
11/21 at Cincinnati
12/05 at Cleveland State
12/08 at Virginia
