TOLEDO, Ohio — The Western Michigan football team beat its first ranked opponent in school history, defeating No. 24 Toledo, 35-30, Friday afternoon at the Glass Bowl in Toledo. With the win, the Broncos earned their first share of a MAC West title since 2000.
Broncos' wide receivers Corey Davis and Daniel Braverman combined for 10 catches for 217 yards on the day. Western Michigan quarterback Zach Terrell finished the day 12-of-20 for 243 yards and two touchdowns.

AKRON, Ohio -- The Akron Zips re-claimed the coveted Wagon Wheel from cross-town rival Kent State with a 20-0 shutout in Mid-American Conference action at InfoCision Stadium-Summa Field on a rainy Friday afternoon.
Riding a four-game winning streak, Akron improved to 7-5 overall (5-3 MAC), while the Golden Flashes finished the season at 5-7 overall (3-5 MAC). The seven wins are the most for a Zips' team since 2005, tying the program's FBS record of wins in a season.
The shutout was the Zips' first over the Golden flashes since 1985 and first over any team since 1992. Akron held Kent to just 10 yards rushing. Sophomore QB Thomas Woodson went 11-of-19 for 140 yards and a touchdown.

Central Michigan 35, Eastern Michigan 28

MT. PLEASANT, Mich. -- Central Michigan's Romello Ross scored four touchdowns and Central Michigan beat Eastern Michigan 35-28 on Friday.
Eastern Michigan (1-11, 0-8 Mid-American) led 21-7 at halftime on two touchdown passes by Brogan Roback and a 35-yard interception return by Kyle Rachwal.
But Central Michigan (7-5, 6-2) fired back after the break, scoring on a 63-yard touchdown pass from Cooper Rush to Ross on its first possession, and then Ross' 3-yard run - his second of the game - tied it at 21.

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- University of Massachusetts football ended the 2015 campaign with a 31-26 win at Buffalo on Friday. The Minutemen racked up 295 yards on the ground for 458 total offensive markers.
Freshman Marquis Young paced the Minutemen with 240 yards on 35 carries for three touchdowns. He’s the first Minuteman to score three or more touchdowns in a game since Shadrach Abrokwah vs. Eastern Michigan on Oct. 18, 2014. Young is also UMass’ first 200+ yards rusher since Tony Nelson’s 204 yards at Hofstra on Nov. 22, 2008.
Quarterback Blake Frohnapfel finished 9-of-22 for 163 yards. He connected on a long throw of the day, for 49 yards, to receiver Tajae Sharpe. Sharpe ended the day with 138 yards on six receptions for his 10th career 100+ yard game.
