CLEVELAND, Ohio — Kent State sophomore outside hitter Kelsey Bittinger was named Mid-American Conference Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week for the second time this season, the conference office announced Wednesday morning.

Bittinger, an applied physics major with a perfect 4.0 cumulative GPA, averaged a team-high 3.67 kills per set in addition to 2.33 digs per set to help Kent State to a pair of sweeps and a share of the first Mid-American Conference East Division title in program history over the weekend. Bittinger had 9 kills and 4 digs Friday against rival Akron and added 13 kills and 10 digs against Buffalo on Saturday. She led all players in kills in both matches.

The MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week honor is presented weekly to a MAC male and female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during the week's competition. The winners are selected by a group of the conference's faculty athletic representatives.
