BOWLING GREEN, Ohio — Toledo junior running back Kareem Hunt rushed for a season-high 153 yards and two touchdowns and the Rocket defense forced five turnovers as Toledo defeated Bowling Green, 44-28, Tuesday night.

It was the sixth consecutive victory for Toledo in the "Battle of I-75. More importantly, it kept Toledo (9-1, 6-1 MAC) in the thick of race for the Mid-American Conference West Division title. The Rockets are now a half-game ahead of Northern Illinois (5-1) and Western Michigan (5-1).

Hunt battered the Falcons on the ground early as Toledo jumped out to a 20-0 lead, and then ground up yardage late as Toledo tried to eat up the clock. Senior quarterback Phillip Ely made enough big plays to keep the Falcons' defense honest. Ely completed 16-of-24  passes for 208 yards and one touchdown, and also ran for his first career score.

ATHENS, Ohio -- Ohio’s offense honored its seniors with a season-high in points as the Bobcats (7-4, 4-3 MAC) grounded the Cardinals (3-8, 2-5 MAC) by a 48-31 margin on Tuesday (Nov. 17) at Peden Stadium.

Ohio running back A.J. Ouellette rushed for 121 yards and two touchdowns, while quarterback J.D. Sprague threw for 275 yards on 15-of-22 passing and three touchdowns.

"I think it’s all of what takes a running game to have a chance to be successful and that’s starting with the O-line. And our thing, since we don’t normally run a two-back offense, you’ve got to rely on your quarterback to be a runner also. We were healthy enough to be able to get that done these last three games. That’s huge in point production and yard production," said Ohio Head coach Frank Solich.
