Postgame Notes

OXFORD, Ohio — Akron senior placekicker Robert Stein nailed a 50-yard field goal with less than three minutes to play to seal the Zips' 37-28 Mid-American Conference victory at Miami (Ohio) at Yager Stadium on Saturday afternoon.  Akron improved to 5-5 overall (3-3 MAC), while the RedHawks fell to 2-9 overall (1-6 MAC).

Despite a 27-7 halftime lead, the Zips allowed 21 Miami second-half points, including two touchdowns less than a minute apart in the fourth quarter.

Akron racked up 432 yards of total offense, including 211 yards on the ground. Senior RB Conor Hundley, playing before a huge hometown crowd, rushed for 110 yards and a career-high three touchdowns.

Sophomore QB Thomas Woodson went 13-of-28 for 221 yards. Senior WR Imani Davis led the receiving corps with seven catches for 64 yards, while sophomore WR Jerome Lane had four receptions for 83 yards and a touchdown.

Postgame Notes

YPSILANTI, Mich. -- UMass recorded 330 yards on the ground and 439 yards of total offense to run past the Eastern Michigan Eagles, 28-17, Saturday in Ypsilanti. UMass moves to 2-8 overall with their first road win of the season. EMU falls to 1-10 and 0-7 in MAC play.

The Minutemen put up 200 yards rushing in the first half, the most in half all season. The last time UMass rushed for 200+ yards in a game was against Eastern Michigan on Oct. 18, 2014.

Freshman Marquis Young led all rushers with 168 yards on 32 carries, career efforts in both categories. He also scored UMass' first touchdown of the afternoon. Senior Jamal Wilson collected a career game-high 112 yards rushing and two scores on the ground. He carried the ball 16 times.

Redshirt senior Blake Frohnapfel was 10-of-20 for 109 yards and one touchdown in the air. His leading receiver was senior Tajae Sharpe who had four catches for 67 yards. The pair connected on a 39-yard score to start the second quarter.
