MT. PLEASANT, Mich.— Toledo junior running back Kareem Hunt rushed for 113 yards and two touchdowns to lead Toledo to a critical 28-23 victory over Central Michigan in Mount Pleasant on Tuesday evening. The victory keeps Toledo (8-1, 5-1 MAC) alive in the hunt for Mid-American Conference West Division crown and all but eliminates the Chippewas (5-5, 4-2 MAC).
Hunt's first touchdown was a 41-yard run in the first quarter that put the Rockets up, 14-0, while his second touchdown was a three-yard plunge in the fourth quarter that helped give Toledo its winning cushion.
Hunt was complemented by senior quarterback Phillip Ely, who completed 24-of-40 passes for 339 yards and two scores. His primary target was senior wideout Alonzo Russell, who tallied four receptions and a team-high 86 yards.
Toledo's defense held Central Michigan to just 59 yards rushing, forcing the Chippewas into a one-dimensional attack. Senior cornerbacks Cheatham Norrils (seven tackles, one interception, two pass breakups) and Christian Dukes (six tackles, two breakups) led the defense.

ATHENS, Ohio — Notching its first shutout since 2013, Ohio (6-4, 3-3 MAC) dimmed the Golden Flashes (3-7, 2-4 MAC) with stout defense and a blistering rushing attack en route to a 27-0 victory on Tuesday (Nov. 10) at Peden Stadium.
Ohio quarterback Derrius Vick was 7-for-13 passing for 77 yards and one touchdown and added 22 carries for 107 yards and one touchdown. Wide receiver Sebastian Smith had 49 yards and one touchdown.
"I’m really proud of our guys bouncing back the way they have. Obviously the last three games have been very, very tough on us. We’re a banged up football team and we continue to be that, however, I think it was a complete win," said Ohio head coach Frank Solich. "Obviously the defense played well in shutting them out. We had a big enough control of special teams in that we established some field position through that and that’s critical against a team like Kent who has one of the top defenses in the MAC. And the offense, to be able to run the ball effectively against them probably did as well as anybody this year."
