YPSILANTI, Mich. – An early strike by junior Gabriella Mancini put the Eastern Michigan University women's soccer team ahead of the Akron Zips early as the Eagles (4-7-1; 1-3-0 MAC) grinded out a 3-2 win, Sunday, Oct. 4. Wrapping up a three-game home stand, the Eagles benefited from tallies by Mancini, junior Michelle Rollins, and redshirt junior Ellie Tillar on attack. Freshman Kaylin Williams recorded four saves on her way to her third win of the season.

Sophomore Donovan Capehart tallied a hat-trick to lead the Golden Flashes who improved to 7-3-2 and 2-1-0 in Mid-American Conference play. Northern Illinois dropped to 2-9-0 overall and 1-3-0 in conference play.
