YPSILANTI, Mich. -- Western Michigan defeated Eastern Michigan 58-28 on the road Thursday night to start Mid-American Conference play 4-0 for the first time since 2008.
Western Michigan also secured the Michigan MAC trophy for the second year in the row, sweeping in-state conference counterparts Central Michigan (41-39 win) and Eastern Michigan. The Broncos’ 58 points were the most scored by the Broncos since racking up 68 against Akron in 2011.
Junior wide receiver Corey Davis reached 3,000 career yards receiving, moving into fifth all-time at Western Michigan and two yards shy of surpassing Jarmarko Simmons in fourth (3,019). Davis hauled in seven passes for 105 yards, his fourth-100 yard game of the year.
Freshman running back Jamauri Bogan scored four touchdowns on eight carries and had 81 yards rushing. He became the first Western Michigan back to register four rushing TDs since Phil Read accomplished the feat against Bowling Green in 2002.

OXFORD, Ohio -- The University at Buffalo, the State University of New York football team won its second game in five days by defeating Miami (OH), 29-24, at Yager Stadium on Thursday night. The Bulls have won two straight and have leveled their record at 4-4 overall and 2-2 in the Mid-American Conference.
The Bulls outgained the RedHawks, 433-348, in total offense. Buffalo quarterback Joe Licata was a productive 22-of-29 for 289 yards and two touchdowns and hit a season-high 10 different receivers. Running back Jordan Johnson got a second straight start at running back and finished with 123 yards on 28 carries and two touchdowns, while wide receiver Ron Willoughby made his two catches count, a 78-yard and a 9-yard touchdown.
Buffalo scored touchdowns all three times they reached the redzone. The Bulls will take a .500 record into the month of November for just the third time in their FBS era (2008, 2013).
