TOLEDO, Ohio -- Toledo senior quarterback Phillip Ely threw for 327 yards and four touchdowns as No. 22 Toledo pounded Eastern Michigan, 63-20, at the Glass Bowl Saturday afternoon.
The 63-point output was a season-high and the most since Toledo's 63-44 victory over Arkansas State in the GoDaddy Bowl on Jan. 4, 2015. It was the most in a regular-season game since a 66-63 Rocket win over Western Michigan in 2011.
The Rockets trailed 6-0 after one quarter of play but scored 56 unanswered points to roll to their sixth consecutive victory. After being held scoreless in the first 15 minutes, Toledo (6-0, 3-0 MAC) scored four touchdowns in the second quarter to take a 28-6 lead into the locker room. The Rockets then exploded for four more TDs in the third to put the game away.

ATHENS, Ohio -- Western Michigan imposed their will on the ground against their opponent and dominated the second half in a 49-14 road win over the Ohio Bobcats on Saturday. With the win the Broncos even their overall season record at 3-3 and improve to 2-0 in Mid-American Conference play for the first time since 2008.
The Broncos were nothing short of dominant in their rushing attack, posting 430 yards on 44 carries for a 9.8 yards per rush average. That number has not been topped by the Broncos in any game dating back to the 2000 and is potentially one of the top handful of performances in Bronco history.
Jamauri Bogan and LeVante Bellamy ran for 149 and 135 yards, respectively, becoming the first Bronco duo to top the century mark in a game since Brian Fields and Dareyon Chance did it against Nicholls during the 2013 season. Jarvion Franklin nearly topped 100 yards as well, finishing with 95 yards on 13 attempts. WMU rushed for four touchdowns on the afternoon, getting one each from Bogan, Bellamy, Franklin and Zach Terrell.

AMHERST, Mass. -- Youth severed up the opportunity and Kent State's defense finished it off in a 15-10 win over UMass to move the Golden Flashes into a second-place tie in the Mid-American Conference's East Division.
The victory sets up a battle with Bowling Green for first place in the East next week at Dix Stadium.
"Our defense did a really good job and a lot of guys played and contributed," said Kent State head coach Paul Haynes, whose Flashes improved to 3-4 overall and 2-1 in MAC play. "I'm proud of the team effort. The defense did a very good job, but when your offense plays like it did and doesn't turn the ball over…you always have a chance to win."
Making his first star at quarterback for Kent State, redshirt freshman George Bollas completed 20 of his 25 passes for 135 yards, including a 1-yard touchdown pass to fellow freshman Charles Chandler. The Flashes' lone touchdown tied the game at 10-10 with 3:14 to play in the first half. Bollas' lone interception and KSU's only turnover came on a Hail Mary throw on the last play before halftime.

Postgame Notes
MUNCIE, Ind. -- Ball State football coach Pete Lembo wasn’t impressed with what he saw from his team Saturday in its final non-conference game of the season.
Seventy-five percent efficiency wasn’t good enough. Forty-five minutes of decent performance wasn’t good enough. A resilient recovery on defense in the second half wasn’t good enough.
The small percentages of botched plays, missed opportunities and lack of focus added up to a major issue for the Cardinals as they lost 31-19 to upstart FBS program Georgia State Saturday afternoon in Scheumann Stadium.
